HoC style analysis - just curious

How do they determine what style type you are? Is it due to your shape / measurements? What kind of things you like to start or what would suit your day to day life? I had my colours done a couple of years ago but have never taken the plunge for the style day. Just wondering if it was worth it really. Any thoughts please?

For the shape aspect the consultant studies your shape in undies or swimming costume. They measure your height proportions (floor to knee, etc.) and identifies your over all body shape. This is what she uses to advise on your clothing shapes which suit your body.
The style aspect is based on some questions and discussion about style preferences. This gives you your style e.g. dramatic, romantic, gamine, etc. HTH

Would you say it was worth it, Jewel ?

I too am tempted, but I wonder if they would just end up telling me what I already know (quality over quantity, good basics, etc).

Yes, some was just plain common sense. But some was really useful like which parts of my body (in the proportional height part) to play up and down. There was some suggestions of specific things like neck lines, sleeve lengths, hem lengths, trouser shapes which is really useful when shopping. Interesting that I gravitate towards the correct trousers but not skirts and necklines. I love a polo neck but I was told no high necks because of my neck/jaw lines. I was also directed towards shorter pencil skirts which do look fab and shift dresses, which I'm struggling with as when I've tried them on I feel like a shapeless sack who is as wide as she is tall.
The part I like best was my style personality, which I adore (although I still hanker after floaty, floral and more feminine styles), but think I will feel better in it once I've lost the last of my weight; somehow size 16+ doesn't feel very gamine!

Was your 'personality' a surprise? I sort of think I have diagnosed mine using the internet... Then again, I thought I had diagnosed my season and turns out I was as wrong as I could be.

AsBrightAsAJewel · 02/01/2014 22:01

Not particularly. I didn't know that I would be diagnosed into a style, but when I saw what the others were (Romantic and Classic in my group) I was sure I wasn't one of them, so when it was explained it made perfect sense. I was totally wrong with my colour prediction, though!

I had mine done a few weeks go and loved it. I'm an ingenue natural and it's somehow given me confidence to wear stuff that I had previously worried may have been frumpy.

It was very useful in terms of what type of skirts/dresses to go for. But the biggest revelation was understanding why certain things don't work for me eg anything too tailored/structured, v necks and big patterns.

When I initially had my colours done I wasn't tempted by the style day bu then gradually became more and more curious. Certainly no regrets from me.

[Shock]

Thank you. Won't be making that appointment then! Am six months post birth and I now hate my body even more than I did before. Definitely not suitable to be shown and measured.

Oh lord - you're not 'measured', and I definitely didn't wear undies for the proportions bit - just vest and leggings.

They measure the relative length of your body - so length of your hip to knee, relative to knee to floor, hip to bust, relative to bust to scalp. Ths is about what proportions of clothes will suit you.

They are NOT measuring your waist, hips etc. please don't be put off by that. I swear you will come out LIKING your body more than before.
