Can anyone recommend a turban for after a shower/hair wash? I'm sure one brand is regularly recommended on here. Thanks in advance.

I've just bought myself one for the gym from Home Bargains for £1.99. Attraction was, because it has a cow print it is a designated gym one, not to be confused with other white ones. It is micro-fibre. Sure it won't be the recommended one though....

I have one from boots, it's good. Then I bought one for DD (swimming, long hair) in Primark, about £3 I think, and it's better.

SundaySimmons · 01/01/2014 16:37

Pound shop one.

Only when I got home did I realise it had a picture of miss piggy on it.

My daughter thought it very amusing.

I towel dry my hair when I come out of the shower, then comb through and put turban on whilst I get dressed and make up on.

I have a lot of hair and find this helps speed up the drying time.

HappyAsASandboy · 01/01/2014 16:43

Not a turban recommendation as such, but I use the kids hooded towels!

The baby ones that are square with a triangle in one corner - put your head upside down, put the triangle holdover your head, and wrap the towel around the lengths of your hair. It has revolutionised hair washing for me need to get out more.

SundaySimmons · 01/01/2014 16:54

I use the hooded towels for my cat and my guinea pigs!

Never thought to use on me, what a great idea.

I use a 99p microfibre one from TJ Hughes for plopping my curls. It's fab

MollyBerry · 01/01/2014 17:49

I just a microfibre one from the 99p shop - I have a fair few of them but they work well and I have very long thick hair. If my hair grows long then some of it sticks out the end but then I just fold my hair back over into the turban and it's all fine

JennySense · 01/01/2014 20:24

I have an Aquis Lisse Hair Turban - it's fabulous - I bought it on Amazon.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/01/2014 20:27

I use a microfibre one. Still use the cornered baby towel on DD - she's nearly 15 and still hasn't mastered turbanning.

Hadn't thought of using them on pets - could be good for our dachshund. His flapping ears post-bath can really hurt! Grin

BrokenFairylights · 01/01/2014 20:28

Are these special turban towels better at drying than a regular towel wound into a turban on your head?

EdithWeston · 01/01/2014 20:37

DD has one from Boots and one from a pound shop. I don't think there's much difference between them. They don't speed up drying as such - just keep long wet hair out of the way whilst it does dry.

BillyBanter · 01/01/2014 20:42

broken, they fall off less easily and are less bulky.

Any old turban towel does me. I have several. microfibre and towelling.

Lilymaid · 01/01/2014 20:45

I have a micrfibre turban from M & S that cost £5. It is very effective.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 01/01/2014 21:27

Broken, microfibre is better for removing moisture and better for your hair

bunnymother · 01/01/2014 21:29

I also have, use and like the Aquiss Liss. I also bought a cheapy microfibre one from M&S and I can't bear the feel of it, for some reason.

Bumpinthenight · 01/01/2014 21:48

I bought my mum a microfibre one from Primark before Christmas. £1.50. Bargain!

BrokenFairylights · 01/01/2014 21:55

I may have to get one, yet another thing I didn't know I needed, thanks mn Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 01/01/2014 21:59

I've got a flat good quality (ecloth type) microfibre one and a cheap turban one from Primark which I take swimming. The flat one does a much better job of drying than the turban one (and stays on pretty well too). Not sure if thats because its better microfibre or because it does up much more tightly than the turban ones.

CatAndFiddle · 01/01/2014 22:02

I use a cotton t shirt. Best thing for reducing frizz on my curls. Has to be 100% cotton though.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/01/2014 22:04

I've tried all types but I had a really ancient one that had elastic all the way round the hem rather than just a loop/button to twist. Of course over the years it got really tatty but I could never find one as good.

Not a fan of microfibre- I don't find it 'dries' it has to be dabbed or squeezed.

I bought a set of 4 from QVC just before Christmas (Turbanators or similar, I can't find them now) they were £20 for 4.

Brilliant. I have a shoulder length bob but DD has long hair (and a smaller head) we both find they are good.

Solo · 01/01/2014 22:07

TripTrap what is plopping curls?

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 01/01/2014 22:45

Solo, you need to do it with hair soaking wet.Straight after shower (and product if needed) you tip your head upside down so all your hair falls right into the centre of the towel, pull the towel to your head and,if not a turban twist the sides,if a turban fix normally, but without twisting hair -hair needs to stay 'plopped' in a pile right on the top of your head.

You leave it for 30 minutes or so and when you take the towel off your partially dried curls bounce down and have great structure without the frizz

leobear · 01/01/2014 22:57

Thanks so much for all these ideas. Think I will try aquis Lisse. Anything to speed me up - I have to wash my hair every morning.

Thanks TripTrap :) I'll try that. Have natural curls that seem to have gone a bit erm... lank.

Sorry for hijack OP.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 01/01/2014 23:30

I only started it in August and it has had an amazing effect on my curls Smile
