The downside of shopping at TK Maxx is that...

You get uaed to the prices and balk at paying full price for them elsewhere.

I bought a Becksondergaard scarf at FULL PRICE after paying v little in TK Maxx.

Still recovering from the shock!

Anyone else agree?

It's like a jumble sale, it's confusing, can't find the sizes you want and end up buying something you don't need that wasn't that cheap really but seemed it at the time due to false 'original.price' tag

Got my lovely Becksondergaard scarf from lovely MN asos link

lookdeepintotheparka · 31/12/2013 14:12

I don't think it's as good for adult or children's clothes as it was a few years ago - I guess it reflects how expensive clothes have got of late but I haven't found many bargains lately and I do shop there a lot. A lot of clothing items still at high prices I wouldn't pay for them.

Fragrance and accessories often seem like the best things to look for and shoes - if they have as anything left in your size!! Also I do get some good things in homeware section - pans and baking stuff good!

Nombrechanger · 31/12/2013 15:18

Great. I've just ordered a becksondergaard scarf!
MN is dangerous! Grin

Nombrechanger · 31/12/2013 15:19

From ASOS not TK Maxx I might add.

ButThereAgain · 31/12/2013 15:23

The other downside of shopping at TK Maxx is that you get a lovely soft fleecy top for £12.99 in a lurid deep pink colour that your husband takes one look at and says "You look like the new landlady of the Queen Vic."

MairzyDoats · 31/12/2013 15:29

In principle it's fab but just looking at the racks and racks of randomness exhausts me. I usually stick to the home aisles.

Floisme · 31/12/2013 15:39

The shoes and bags are definitely more expensive than they used to be but I would still say most of my best buys this year have been from there. I think it's always been pretty random and you need to go in often and tune out all the crap.

MrsCobbit · 31/12/2013 15:40

There are no downsides :-) Just bought an Anglomania dress for £37 :-)

Allthingsprettyreturns · 31/12/2013 16:38

My lovely modal/cashmere BSG scarf came from TK and was about forty percent cheaper than the RRP

I've spent a couple of hours in there today as they have just 'yellow labelled' everything in the sale. I've got a lovely GF Ferre bag for £20, a Costume National bag for £27, some Annick Goutal perfume for £10, a Furla wallet for £20 and some Lierac moisturiser for £7.
So...lovely stuff but I didn't really strictly need any of it.

Still very jealous of MrsCobbit's Anglomania dress though!

happydutchmummy · 31/12/2013 16:56

Yes, I shudder at 'normal shop' prices now... I've grown to love shopping in their kids section, especially the clearance but. I now believe that all clothes should cost between £3 to £8.

The other downside is that as everything is so cheap it's got to be worth buying. Hence my dd wardrobe is stuffed full of amazing clothes, when realistically she only needs one outfit a day... I just can't resist the cute dresses.

I went there today and got a alberta feretti jacket for £30.

Specialbrew · 31/12/2013 17:05

I often find classic clothes at amazing prices - Celine silk top, (75% off), Stella Mcartney black Cecile Jacket, similar amount off, MIH Paris jeans for 19.99, James Perse and Vince t-shirts for 14.99, CK wool and cashmere crombie style coat 150.00

You do have to be prepared to search through a lot of tat, but I actually like searching through the rails to pick up something a bit different to what you find on the High Street

The only problem I find is that I end up buying things I don't strictly need just because it's a bargain (how can you resist a silk Maison Scotch shirt for 7.99?) Having said that shopping for me is a hobbie, so it's a problem I can live with Smile
