Can you recommend me a new foundation?

Need to replace my foundation. Have been using Chanel Vitalumiere and loved it, but not sure if it warrants the price tag. I'm 44 so need something hard working! Any suggestions much appreciated :-).

I used to use Vitalumiere and switched to Laura Mercier Silk Creme. It has far better full coverage and lasting power than the Chanel selection. It's also more 'radiant' coverage.

Just marking my place as I need a new foundation too. Getting a bit fed up of Estee Lauder Doublewear as it does nothing for me.

I chdnge

iPad messed up earlier Clinique even better compact foundation. It's Creme but sets to a powder.

I recently ran out didn't buy new one used something else and missed it immediately and repurchased next day!

Very good product does exactly what it says on the tin.

Ysl touch éclat - it's not too heavy and comes in lots of shades.

It is about £28 but it lasts along time as a little goes a long way.

It is definitely the nicest foundation I have used for years.

I used to wear Estee Lauder Double Wear Light, but have recently bought some Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation, and am really impressed with it. It was on offer for about £6.99 too; bargain.

Cocolepew · 30/12/2013 16:43

I've started to use Max Factor Miracle Whip and love it. It's very light but good coverage, I find it really easy to build it up on areas that need a bit more coverage.

DuchessFanny · 30/12/2013 16:45

I've also been using the YSL one, it's really good, nice coverage and seems to last.

Going against the grain here but I did't like the YSL one at all-slides off too easily and made me look greasy rather than dewy! I use double wear light for everyday and regular double wear for going out.

WhereIsMyHat · 30/12/2013 19:34

I love Bobbi brown skin foundation. It's light and dewy rather that giving a full, thick coverage.

HappyHugs · 30/12/2013 20:46

Clarins Skin illusion £26 so on the steep side but beautuful full and dewy coverage.

hushabyehill · 31/12/2013 09:21

Thanks all of you! Lots to look at there.

Clarins Skin Illusion has a very high alcohol content same as lancome's similar one. That can be irritating to some skins.

Clarins Extra Firming is quite nice though, and Nars foundations are good.

HelloBoys · 31/12/2013 12:41

OP - try to get samples. i've often got samples from Clinique especially if you say you want to try before you buy.

Sometimes YSL etc give out a week's worth of samples free.

clarequilty · 31/12/2013 13:08

I have moved away from foundations - I hate the claggy look on me and I like freckles to show - onto Korean BB creams. I like the Skin 79 Gold VIP one. Looks like skin and you can layer up over any areas that need heavy lifting.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/12/2013 14:22

I like the Soap & Glory one - as good as Clinique and Clarins ones ime.

HelloBoys · 31/12/2013 14:49

Dr Jarts BB cream is good (as someone recommended BB cream but you have to ensure you like color and what it does ime.

AntoinetteCosway · 31/12/2013 15:00

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation is just gorgeous. Gives a sort of 'lit from within' look without being at all greasy.

dontcallmemam · 31/12/2013 15:14

Another BB fan here. I've got yellowy, sallow skin and the match is perfect.

ShreddedHoops · 31/12/2013 15:21

I like YSL but cba spending that much atm so have bought Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum one - it's the only foundation I've bought more than twice in a row. And only £10.99 in Boots. Keeping YSL for nights out etc or when I want to feel amazing. Bourjois is fine for everyday, dewy, nice pale colour, and randomly smells fab too. Just feels lovely to put on, more like skincare than makeup IMO.
