Oily skin people in here

My nose and cheeks and forehead get oily a few hours after putting foundation on.
I'm sure I read about primer that stops this and tried something from MUA but it doesn't seem to do anything.
Can you recommend anything please?

Johnson and Johnson oil sheets. Blue. Soak up all the oil. Disposable. In bin.then a bit of powder. Sorted. Use them all the time.

SirRaymondClench · 29/12/2013 18:15

i think I have something like those from Avon. They are good.
Is there anything that can be put on the skin to stop the oil to start with?

There is no magic product. I know, I've tried them all. Oil-free foundation is as good as it gets. So don't give any more money to the orange makeup counter women, get some blotting papers.

The only thing that will reduce oil production to any significant degree is Roaccutane.

Urban decay de-slick is amazing. It goes on after make up and keeps you shine free for HOURS. I had it used my wedding day in August in New York and my make up was still perfect after getting photos taken outside for hours.

HazleNutt · 29/12/2013 19:27

not everybody likes it, but Dr Hauschka normalizing oil keeps my skin shine-free the whole day. You can get a small tester kit to try.

Has anyone heard of or tried the Milk of Magnesia thing?

treaclesoda · 29/12/2013 20:05

I've used milk of magnesia as a facemask but not as a primer. ..

OneMincePie2Many · 29/12/2013 20:06

MAC blotting powder works great for me, hours of shine-freeness. Blotting paper is ok too, but I prefer the powder.

butterfliesandflowers · 30/12/2013 20:19

Still oily but a lot less so since I changed my skin care and went really gentle, worth considering, but otherwise blotting sheets and powder!

Bostonpancake · 30/12/2013 20:23

Any powder recommendations? I was looking at a soap and glory one that got good reviews online....

violetbunny · 30/12/2013 20:33

Clean and clear oil blotting sheets off Ebay. And Urban Decay de slick in a tube is amazing. MAC Prep & Prime translucent powder is excellent too. Press it gently but firmly into the skin with a puff (don't brush it on) and it lasts and lasts.

SirRaymondClench · 30/12/2013 21:50

I think I might have some of that Mac blotting powder.
So sheets, blotting powder and Urban Decay deslick are the way to go!

This is the bane of my life too OP - tried lots of new products recently to no avail Sad I think you are probably right lurkingaround!

I just carry my mattifying pressed powder around and use a matte foundation which helps a bit.

Might have a look at the Urban Decay deslick too..

Milk of Magnesia has changed my life! I have oily skin and I use this as a primer - it keeps my face oil free and make up in place all day! Just try it, its only a fiver! Reviews here www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ItemId=10870/

treaclesoda · 31/12/2013 13:03

Milk of Magnesia is currently unavailable, I was looking for some last week and asked in my local pharmacy and was told it's no longer licensed. Don't know if it's a temporary thing, or if it has actually been banned. The Express and Daily Mail are adamant that the EU banned it, but then they say that aboyt everything. ..

SirRaymondClench · 31/12/2013 15:05

There is some on Amazon, might get some and give it a go

clinique do a brilliant product called pore minimiser that solves this problem. You just put a tiny bit on grease-prone areas before make-up and nothing, absolutely nothing gets through. I speak as someone with the a forehead like an oilslick

Dawndonnaagain · 01/01/2014 14:07

Milk of magnesia

IPHII · 01/01/2014 15:52

Milk of magnesia works wonders if you can find it. It goes on after my moisturiser; failing that, try using corn silk neutral powder(the loose one) after your foundation to set it. It keeps the oil off my face for hours and I can't do without it now.

Misssss · 01/01/2014 16:59

I bought my MOM in boots, they have it in the larger stores.

QuinnFabray · 01/01/2014 19:47

Spray the deslick on your face before putting your make up on too.

Milk of magnesia didn't work for me. My favourite is MAC's spf 50 primer. I still have to blot and powder, but not nearly as much as without. And use a good long lasting foundation too - Estee Lauder double wear, Revlon Colorstay etc

trixie1970 · 01/01/2014 20:47

Have you tried Witch stick? I have a very oily T zone and apply this product, widely available, throughout the day. Seems to work wonders for me. Also works brilliant on the beginnings of a spot. One would think at age 43 spots would be a thing of the past! Ha ha to that!
