I have just looked through the thread on 'things that have made a difference to your skin' thread.
Then I looked at the Caroline Hiron website, then I became completely overwhelmed. All that stuff!!! Do you really need to put all that stuff on your face to make your skin nice?
So then I thought I'd ask what your skin cleansing/ moisturising routines are. Is it simple, do you use loads of stuff?
I am in my 40s, only wear eye make up but no foundation etc. When I remember I use a cleansing wipe and always use moisturiser. That's it.
Please share your routines with me!!
Thank you Smile

I wonder why at night though. Odd really. My skin, I have finally discovered, seems to produce oil when it's not hydrated enough. I suppose it kind of makes sense - it doesn't have enough moisture, so it produces more. Using a rich cream seems to have stopped that - I wake up with lovely clear, balanced skin now.

I have discovered that for me less is definitely more. I just use a gentle face wash in the shower - usually do it twice - and then a tiny dab of La Roche Posay balm on any dry bits. That's it. I have far fewer spots and a less oily face than when I was using lots of different products.

I wouldn't say my skin was amazing but at least I'm not actively paying to make it worse!

I am 40 and have oily/combination skin. the following MN recommendations keep it under control:

Superdrug hot cloth cleanser at night, followed by Aldi moisturiser

Splash of water in the morning then Aldi serum and moisturiser.

JemimaPuddle · 30/12/2013 12:34

Am face wash, superdrug vit e oil & day cream
PM Superdug vit e cleanser, oil & night cream
Twice a week use alpha h liquid gold & 1 week a month use decleor balm essential.
gecko if I cleansed, toned then went to bed with our night cream i expect my skin would be oily in the morning. Using night cream I've never had this.

Yes but you wash the (natural oil) off your skin in the morning. That is the point. Rather than paying a product to moisturise your skin you just let it moisturise itself. Which it does very well.

I fly a lot for work, so am conscious of drier air in the cabin

Wash with dove soap
Tone with Clinique purple toner
In the mornings: Olay everyday moisturiser with spf 15
In the evenings: Rosehip oil, 3 drops, massages into skin

If I've been in the sun for a few days and my skin feels a bit "tight", I'll slather on a vitamin c facemask for an hour

That's it. God that seems really basic and simple now compared to everyone else

I don't wear foundation though, even for work. Just a light powder and blusher etc

I've taken care of my skin from being 13 and it's in good condition with only a few fine lines at the corner of my eyes and I'm 50s.

I cleanse with cheap stuff now- L'Oreal cleanser and eye make up remover. I've used expensive stuff too- Clinique- and see no difference.

I've also got some Boots Botanicals Balm with a muslin which is nice.

I spend more on moisturiser- often Clinique, but also like Olay Regenerist.

I don't 'do' eye creams as they are a waste of money and night cream is any rich moisturiser I have around. I don't do toners- waste of money.

I use Clinique 7 day scrub now and then and their Moisture Surge overnight mask.

Clinique anti-oxidant night repair stuff is lovely but almost £40 a pot.

I do use a high SPF 40 every day all year round.

Well I have have splashed out on some fancy cleansing balm.Emma Hardie prices were beyond the pale really.
I will make some vit c serum.
I have never used separate eye cream. Do I really need to?
