Foundation brush

I've always applied foundation with either my fingers or a sponge but today I went to the no7 counter to have my skin matched to a fountain and the lady used a brush.

What type of brush do I need to apply it, is it just called a foundation brush or are their different types? Recommendations also were to purchase ideally no more than £10 would be nice if possible Grin

I've just started using one (always used to use my fingers too) - I got one from Ecotools (bought in Boots) and was gratified to see it recommended on a make up blog a few days later!

The Real Techniques Expert Face brush is fab. Some are like a flat brush but this one is quite short-haired and chunky and is used to buff the foundation on rather than the flat ones which stroke it on IYSWIM. On its own it's under £10 Boots, Amazon & Superdrug.

I have always struggled with traditional foundation brushes which look a bit like small paint brushes until I discovered the Real Techniques expert face brush. Absolutely amazing! Gives a flawless finish quickly. If you have a big Asda near you look in there, my one sells RT brushes cheaper than Boots or they are often on offer in Boots.

YY Real Techniques expert face brush - a much better finish than fingers. Search YouTube for Pixiwoo for the tutorial.

Ecotools buffing brushes are amazing.

Have seen Eco tools brushes in TKmaxx for a fraction of the price

I like Gosh too (but bought them yrs ago; they seem less good now)

Love love love the Bobbi Brown full coverage brush. It's fabulous. I use it for foundation, and mineral foundation.

Many thanks for the recommendations I was at an outlet today and managed to get a body shop one for £5 so I'll see how I get on with that then she'll out more on a future one if need be Grin

I get on better with the RT stippling brush than expert face. i think it is because my foundation is very runnu (MAC face and body).

Clargo55 · 29/12/2013 17:12

Also use real techniques stippling brush here. Has made such a difference, much better coverage and an even application. Foundation also seems to stay put for longer when applied with a brush.

I recently started usually a foundation brush, it's excellent. I have the Bodyshop one, which I got 50% off but full price is £12. It really looks better and I think I use less foundation with it too.

YOUCANBEMYFRIENDIFYOUBUYMECAKE · 29/12/2013 18:16

body shop is good I have a couple from there, and wash well don't do that annoying thing brushes do when you have washed them lol I don't know how much they are but have a little look you could always wait for their 3 for 2 offer and get a foundation and something else too.

Another vote for the Bodyshop foundation brush - their brushes are good quality (and cruelty free, yay) - plus they also do brush kits which are great value.
