I had my brows threaded yesterday for the first

Time. And the last time. I admit that I had easy births but I would have rather birthed. She did one brow, with me pulling a brow up, thereby assisting in the torture. I very nearly left with one brow alone. Never again. I usually have them plucked, which is painless.

I had mine done for the first time recently and it wasn't especially painful. Maybe she wasn't very good?

TheDayOfMyDoctor · 24/12/2013 17:30

Though I do normally get them waxed, and birthing a baby is definitely preferable to that! Grin

eurochick · 24/12/2013 17:31

I've had it done a couple of times and it fucking hurts. I recently had some minor surgery awake because I don't come round well from GA and the threading was worse. I now just tweezer mne.

CecyHall · 24/12/2013 17:31

I read a thing on buzzfeed today about how to thread. I tried it. It fucking hurt so much.

But I was quite pleased that it could do it myself, maybe I'll build up a tolerance?

Oh, I know what you mean. It was torturous for me the first few times too. And I have heard it said from others that they found it worse than childbirth. But the result is better than waxing and I promise that it really does get better after about 3-5 times.

Giraffeseyelashes · 24/12/2013 17:41

But that said, DO NOT get your upper lip done! AGONY!!!

WhomessweetWhomes · 24/12/2013 17:51

Dear lord - you lot must have had easy births Grin. I'd have my eyebrows threaded approximately. ... let's see... a million times rather than give birth again. Seriously, no exaggeration.

Ladyglamalot · 24/12/2013 17:53

Thank god its not just me that finds it so bloody painful! I have to psyche myself up to get them done but love the results.

80sdrummer · 24/12/2013 17:56

I do think it depends on the person doing it. I've had mine done loads and usually have to stop them half way as I am crying. I tried a new lady last week and she was brilliant and it barely hurt at all.

SolomanDaisy · 24/12/2013 18:08

Totally depends who is doing it. I've now found someone who makes it painless for the upper lip and mild for eyebrows. It's fab!

NameoftheRose · 24/12/2013 18:12

FFS, must have had sneeze births.

I regularly get brows and upper lip threaded & I wouldn't even compare it with birth. I've never yet demanded pain relief to cope with threading!

Choccy84 · 24/12/2013 18:12

I do find it a bit painful but not unbearable. I only hope childbirth is not as bad as that as then it will be easy!! I must admit my eyes always water though which is embarrassing. I have to mop up with loads of tissues. Upper lip is worse but still bearable. It goes red after though do never have it done and then meet someone!!

AlaskaNebraska · 24/12/2013 18:13

I prefer waxing

Paintingrainbowskies · 24/12/2013 21:30

I get mine done regularly and really like the look.

Only time I found it unbearable was during pregnancy!

Best1sWest · 24/12/2013 21:50

DD and me had ours done last week in a local shopping centre. They were bloody vicious. And rude.

Had them done before in Debenhams and that was fine, much more care taken.

beeny · 24/12/2013 21:55

Agree you must have had easy births.I would have my eyebrows done ten times a day compared to the two deliveries I've had.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 24/12/2013 21:59

Ive never had this done.

Could i ask a few questions please?

How much does it cost and how much 'growth' does there have to be and how long does it last?

PasswordProtected · 26/12/2013 08:41

If the practitioner is skilled brows shouldn't hurt at all. I did find having my top lip done a bit painful the first time, but not thereafter.

ArtemisatBrauron · 26/12/2013 11:08

Yeah, it kills. It does get less sore as you get used to it but not by much. I think it looks way better than waxing or plucking though - threading makes brows look naturally perfect rather than over-groomed as some waxers can. I love it!

Inthebeginning · 26/12/2013 11:31

I was nearly sick having mine done once! The pain was horrific but I think because it's a nagging type of pain.
I was told it's worse if you're on your period (don't know why-think someone said nerve endings? ??)
much prefer having them waxed!

mammmamia · 26/12/2013 11:56

Find a quiet salon with someone experienced and it will be much better I promise. I can't bear those ones in the middle of shopping centres.

I've been doing it for years and it takes minutes, hurts a bit but bearable and totally worth it for the results.

Curioustiger · 26/12/2013 12:09

I use hypnobirthing breathing techniques to get through mine. For real!

Ihatemytoes · 26/12/2013 13:12

My 12 yo old has hers done. not a whimper. I guess she's pretty hardcore!

BarbieBowles · 27/12/2013 04:50

Most painful thing ever (not give birth though!!) I stick to waxing now.
