Is there anything in the sales that might suit?
I'm 5'8" and a size 18 top, 12 bottom with a tum Blush and my neck is awful (usually bright red) from old sun damage.

Are you graduating? If so there is usually a dress code. Or are you going to a graduation?

harbinger · 20/12/2013 21:29

I will be going to a graduation. DD2 this year then DD1 the following year.
I have got it the right way round BTW. (Gap plus language.)

I really like this skirt and top.

harbinger · 20/12/2013 21:51

So do I but it's the wrong colour for me. Love the material.
Should have said that I'm freckles, green eyes and dark hair.
I would much prefer a dress/jacket. I don't want a skirt, unless I have to.

something conservative so that you 'match' or don't detract from the graduate. scarf? really don't sweat it as it isn't about you Wink

I know it's not about me. Durr. Are jeans okay then? Thought not!

OP posts:
southeastastra · 20/12/2013 22:08

yes you can wear jeans, no-one is looking at you Wink

harbinger · 20/12/2013 22:14

I'm asking for help about something that I know nothing about.
Well, what can I wear..............from the sales?
Do I have to look MOTB ?

I go to zillions of graduations (through work). You can wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. They won't turf you out if that is jeans but. If it helps, women are usually dressed not as MOTB and more as they would be as a guest to the appropriate season wedding (withou the hats). So a dress and jacket would be fine.

Perhaps get something qualify but plain so you can wear to DD2 and DD1's graduations- just accessorise differently.

harbinger · 20/12/2013 23:12

Thanks Logon. I wasn't going to wear jeans. Grin
Is there a good place with classic dressmaking? Jaeger, Planet, Hobbs?

OP posts:
LogonMounstuart · 21/12/2013 18:46

Yes I think you can't go wrong with Jaegar or Hobbs (imagine Planet is good to I just don't know it).

dexter73 · 21/12/2013 19:00

I disagree with southeastastra - it may not be about you, but you will be in the photos so better to be dressed in something appropriate than a pair of jeans! I think those 3 shops should have something to suit you.

harbinger · 23/12/2013 21:30

What on earth do I look for? All I know is that 50s style is out (with a tum).
I do scrub up quite well and can look smart (but never quite make groomed).
