What is the most stylish and beautiful way to lose your breakfast and nearly your eyeballs in a lay-by in the rain?

I'm assuming the hoodie over pyjamas while you drop the kids off on the school run was a bad start, but by the time I returned home this morning I was looking and feeling sub-human.

23 weeks pregnant and experiencing the worst morning sickness I've ever had.

Am I destined to spend the rest of this pregnancy looking and feeling crap? Help me oh stylish and beautiful ones.

Oh you poor woman, my sympathies Thanks. I have spent 18 months of my life suffering from pregnancy sickness and it is the pits.

I am wondering if you should just abandon all hope, and dress in full oilskins and wellies until you've stopped chundering? So you don't need to worry about - erm - splashback when you throw up...??

MrsCakesPremonition · 18/12/2013 12:52

Take your pick to complement your outfit.

nevergoogle · 18/12/2013 12:57

Wow, morning chicness bags!!! Does it come with a head strap for use while driving?

Something like this?

oh yes, that's perfect!

i suppose i could sleep in my best party clothes too, so as to avoid the pyjama faux pas of this morning.

I think it's OK to wear pyjamas and hoodie on the school run if you're you're pregnant and sick, I really do.

I couldn't even wear maternity jeans when pregnant, as any sense of a tight waistband around my stomach made those acid juices start flowing. Loose waistbands are the way to go!

Presumably you are wearing uggs with said ensemble OP?

MrsMcEnroe · 18/12/2013 13:09

Ha that nose bag is VERY stylish !

nevergoogle · 18/12/2013 13:09

perhaps this would work too

MrsMcEnroe · 18/12/2013 13:10

Yep, that chem suit is perfect, go for it!

nevergoogle · 18/12/2013 13:10

oh no not uggs. i'm not a hopeless case.

You'll look like a Minion! You just need eye-protectors (to avoid painful splashback) to complete the look.

MrsCakesPremonition · 18/12/2013 13:12

You could claim that wipe-clean onesies are the new LBD.

MrsMcEnroe · 18/12/2013 13:20

I spent a large proportion of my childhood in oilskins (my dad had a boat) and I agree that wipe-clean onesies are the garment of the future! They are just so practical. Albeit with a tendency to get sweaty on the inside, and requiring you to strip off if you need to go to the loo...

And soooo practical once you've had the baby too! Baby throws up on you? No problem, just wipe it off and you're good to go. Mothercare are really missing a trick here Grin. Shall we take this to Dragons Den?

MrsMcEnroe · 18/12/2013 13:21

How are you feeling now, OP, by the way?

nevergoogle · 18/12/2013 13:29

yes, to dragon's den!

i've had a sleep, and coca-cola, and am still nauseous. I have anti-emetics and will have one now and risk being too drowsy to pick the kids up later. Luckily I'm supposed to be at work, so the kids will be with childminder and have dinner before I pick them up at 5.15pm.

DH has been informed that he is in charge of dinner.

I just need somebody to make me some bland soup now and I'll be fine.

Rather humiliating it was, when my friend drove past me in the lay-by with a car full of kids (including mine), all waving, not realising what I was doing there.

Poor you Sad

Do you know if you're having a boy or a girl? My SIL and I both had much worse sickness when we were carrying girls. (I have no scientific basis for this other than our own experience!).

Hope you manage to have some turkey on Christmas Day.... x

nevergoogle · 18/12/2013 13:54

The sickness has worsened with each pregnancy. This is number 3.

My mum was the same with her 4, girl, boy, girl, boy and the sickness just got worse each time.

picking the kids up, i had at least had a shower, and was wearing a dress and boots. somehow it feels better to vom while wearing good quality leather boots. Grin

OP posts:
MrsMcEnroe · 19/12/2013 14:20

And it's fairly easy to wipe splattered vomit off leather too ....

Sorry Grin

Feeling any better today?

StyleOverSubstance · 19/12/2013 14:32

poor you - you have my sympathy vote. Was sick all the way through each of my pregnancies and it is just awful when it lasts all day long, not just in the morning and you still have to carry on regardless when you have other children to take care of. At least there are some helpful suggestions on here - especially like the natty little nosebag! Although I think the wipe-down onesie would be a hands-down winner as it covers all eventualities! (literally and metaphorically). Hope you are feeling better today Brew

nevergoogle · 19/12/2013 15:18

I took my anti-emetic around tea-time and took myself off to the spare room for an early night and an undisturbed 12 hour sleep!

Woke up still drowsy from the meds, but not sick so have managed breakfast and lunch with relative success. DH is doing school runs today and I have rested (and made pom poms Hmm)

If I do the same tonight, then hopefully will be back at work tomorrow to get things sorted out before christmas break.

The sickness is so wearing.

MrsMcEnroe · 19/12/2013 16:14

Thinking of you - at least you are over halfway through the pregnancy now

nevergoogle · 19/12/2013 20:30

yeehaa! Grin
