Hotter shoes - is their sizing different from other shoes?

I printed out their size checker thingy, and I double-checked that it had printed true to size. When I followed the instructions and checked my feet I came up as just under a size 5 on one foot and exactly size 5.5 on the other foot.

I can't remember when I last bought a pair of shoes that was under size 6.5. I have wide feet and a high instep so I sometimes buy a size 7. I'm wearing size 40 Ecco boots at the moment and although there is a generous amount of space in front of my big toe it's not huge by any means.

I've been dithering for a couple of months (during which time the price has dropped, hurrah!) about ordering some boots from Hotter. I can't bring myself to place an order for size 5.5 as I'm convinced I'll have to send them back. Should I go for a size 6?

Hi I'm a 7 in Clark's, fit flops, Reiker etc and have two pairs Hotter shoes that are also a 7 - I think they size the same as other manufacturers. I also like comfortable shoes...

I have a couple of pairs.
I usually need a 4 1/2 in most brands, because of lots being on the narrow side, but Hotter size 4 fits me perfectly.

I've hesitated, I know its rude, but I can't help it - Hotter shoes are fouler than foul, have no place on S&B and even my mother who is 87 won't wear them. Sorry.

Grin at higgle. I am looking for comfort as I have given up on stylishness. It's very freeing. In another couple of decades I will free myself further by saying what I think without any regard for social niceties, I'm looking forward to that.

I think a size 6 in the wider fit is the way to go by the sound of it. Thank you.

The soles are horrible and plastic looking, the heels ( such as the ever are) are that horrid Louis shape or nothing and the overall effect is just frumpy - to me. The least horrid are the Cornwall ones.

I also have ancient wide feet that creak and complain at LK Bennet or similar. I buy some stuff at Duo ( some of that is quite ghastly, but at least they do proper heels) M&S with insolia is OK and if I had loads of dosh Chie Mihara. I just have a thing about Hotter shoes.

OK, I've had my punishment for being critical of other people's taste. Having looked at the shoes Aquleven linked to they are now cropping up all over my computer in adverts.

I'm afraid I completely share your view of Hotter shoes,Higgle. I did even get some once in desperation for a holiday with lots of walking and they cut my feet to pieces as well as looking frumpy!

On size,I'd ignore their advice and get what you usually get. The one time I ordered they insisted my usual 41 was a 7 which I knew it wasn't and when they arrived were wrong and had to be changed.
