I am fairly new to style & beauty. Keep seeing threads abt hot cloth cleanse, moisture or oil? I am confused only know it involves a flannel soaked in hot water, use a normal cream cleanser on dry or damp skin then flannel to wipe it off?? What about using oil? Which? Hope you can explain the process !
My skin is quite sensitive but can get spotty around the hairline or around mouth. TIA

You can hot cloth cleanse with any cleansing texture, be it oil, lotion, cream, balm etc. The cloth adds the exoliating element. So, here goes:-

Step 1- massage whichever type of cleanser you are using into your dry face for about 1 minute. This allows the makeup/ facial dirt to dislodge and loosen
Step 2- soak a flannel in a hand hot water, wring out and place over face, then slowly start removing cleanser with circular motions
Step 3- rinse flannel through and then rest over face again and then massage to remove last bits of cleanser
Step 4 (optional)- rinse flannel in cool water, wring out and place over face for a few seconds (acts a bit like a toner I suppose)

You are then ready to apply whatever you next products are. I personally hot cloth cleanse at night, when ihave the most grub to remove. In the morning, I use Elemis Tri Enzyme face wash to remove any dead cells.

I get hairline and chin/ mouth spots, though they are hormonal and I tend to keep my pores in check by using LRP Effaclar Duo.

Thanks shoeprincess2 so much for explaining it clearly to me Grin [gr will have a go. I usually use Avene face creamy wash in the mornings but it doesn't help with my spots. Will oil make it more greasy? Where do you get LRP for your pores from? Thanks again

I use sweet almond oil with a few drops of tea tree oil in (both from holland & Barrett) clearing my acne up a treat (along with no sugar diet)

I LOVE the oil cleansing method, it has made my skin lovely and smooth and very soft. Previously it was rough, spotty, very sensitive and just meh.

I use almond oil - very cheap (couple of pounds if that) from Home Bargains or my local chemist. Massage your whole face with it, paying particular attention to forehead, nose and chin. Make sure you massage for a good 5 mins or even more if you have time. You'll feel all the dirt coming away in the form of gritty bits. Quite satisfying Grin

Once you've done, wipe away all the oil with a clean face cloth that has been soaked in hot tap water. Make sure all traces of oil are gone. The oil draws out the grease and dirt from your pores. It won't make greasy skin any more greasy as long as you remove it all.

You may not need a moisturiser, although if you have dry skin you may want to.

Just to add ,I suffer from Rosacea and my cheeks have really suffered from using supposedly 'sensitive' products over the years. This oil does not affect me at all, my skin looks better than it has for years.

I get the LRP Effaclar Duo from Boots. It is usually £13.50, but it currently is down to £9.75, or thereabouts. Oil doesn't make your skin more greasy. Dehydration does though (as your skin compensates for being parched by producing more oil). I use Clarins Blue Orchid Oil for dehydration and it really helps to balance things out. I recommend you try Soap and Glory Peaches and Clean in a morning. It really helps with spots and is quite a bargain at £8.00

Big bottles of almond oil and other carrier oils are mega cheap on ebay and amazon, sold by essential oil sellers. You can always get a few small bottles of different oils to try out, or maybe message the sellers for samples - all different kinds out there, rice bran oil, avocado oil, almond oil, apricot kernal oil, evening primrose oil, jojoba oil etc. Jojoba oil is great for greasy skin as it's chemically the most similar to human skin sebum, so won't add greasiness.

Thank you!

Having never heard of this, I have just had a play with a cream cleanser on the bathroom. My skin feels very clean! I'm very tempted by the oil method however...
