Have I broke my skin with a clarisonic

I used it on Saturday for the fist time and my face felt lovely and clean and smooth, then again on Sunday night before bed. My face felt really tight yesterday and a bit sore so I didn't use it last night just in case it made it worse.

I have woke this morning and I look about 80 (I am just 40) my skin is so sore dry tight and wrinkly. It also looks grey and very dull.

I was supposed to be meeting friends to day (luckily I work from home so can hide) but I cancelled as it's that bad.

Arrhhhhgg, anyone else had this reaction. I have searched reviews and can't see anyone else having such a bad reaction. I do have sensitive skin which hates any product hence why I bought the clarisonic to use with my trusted cleanser.

Any ideas how long before I stop looking like the undead?

Not trying to be unkind, but if you are staying home because your skin looks a bit dull and wrinkly, have you thought about counselling to improve your self-esteem?

Did you moisturise after using the Clarisonic? If your skin is sensitive and dries out easily, perhaps try a hot cloth cleanser? They are really gentle and make your skin plump and luminous.

I have read about adverse reactions to the Clarisonic (which is why I opted for the Philips Visapure instead...). Give your skin a chance to recover - minimal products/touching, maybe gentle cleansing at night and a mild moisturiser in the morning. I'm sure it'll look better soon. Then maybe use the Clarisonic ONCE a week/fortnight only with the sensitive head brush?

No Nomnomnom, I staying home because it is so sore, not because of how I look. My friends think I'm fabulous even with scales.

I think after its has calmed down I will just try a weekly routine and see how it goes.

It sounds like your skin has totally dried out - you have to be careful not to over-cleanse in winter as it's so much harsher on your skin. Sounds like you may be better off only using your Clarisonic a couple of times a week rather than every day. Would definitely second the advice to try a hot cloth cleanser - if you're washing with a flannel it does pretty much the same thing as a Clarisonic anyway.

And definitely take a look at your moisturising routine, sounds like serum/facial oil might be a good thing for you to try in the evenings before your moisturiser, if your skin is drying out that much.

I have some pure coconut oil, would that help to calm it?

Sorry but your title made me Grin

Get some La Roche Posay 'Cicaplast' cream, it's great for using after things like chemical face peels or extreme sunburn, so should do the trick. It's magic stuff.

I'd stay home with some sudocreme on, and return the clarisonic. That sounds like a very unpleasant reaction.

BitOfFunWithSanta · 17/12/2013 14:52

Ive just been looking at the website- its basically like scrubbing your face with a nailbrush, by the look of it! Shock

rudolphdrops · 17/12/2013 15:20

I'm off to town will I get that in boots shredded.

I have a Clarisonic and have never had any kind of reactions like this.

I have however heard of people getting reactions from the Clarisonic when they've pushed it too hard against the skin or used a brush that wasn't suitable for the skin, such as the deep pore cleansing brush.

I'd use something like Cicaplast or Avene's version called Cicalfate.

A bit embarrassed to ask, but what does it do to your skin?
And how?
Is it like a giant electric toothbrush?
I'm just wary of it.
