Never worn lipstick but quite fancy trying one with a pop of colour. Any recommendations?

I've never, ever worn colour on my lips. Occasionally I put on a neutral lip gloss but that's it. Otherwise its just my trusty 8 hour cream. I quite like the slightly zingy pink/corally shades but have no clue what suits. My lips are dry so I would prefer a glossier type/not too thick or heavy. I have sallow skin (tan easily but takes on a slightly unhealthy yellow tinge at this time of year), dark blonde hair that is highlighted and blue/grey eyes. So....hit me with the suggestions???

Revlon Lip Butters are quite moisturising, colourful but not in a shocking way. They're a good way to get into colour

Superdrug do a brand called 2true where all products are £1.99 - bargain! I find their lipglosses very non-drying and I have Sahara-like skin. The range of colours isn't great, some are a bit metallic-looking but they have a nice red colour (think it's no 14). Not much staying power but a pleasure to re-apply

Have fun Smile

I second the revlon lip butters, you can build colour with them and they are nice and moisturising. Plenty of colours to choose from, I got one for my sister that's a nice peachy/coral shade, I think it's called something like peach parfet.

Clinique do a Butter lipstick if you want to spend a bit more - it's a bit more of a lippy than the Revlon but very moisturising.

Burts Bees do tinted lip balms. Red dahlia is a lovely way to practise a red.

LittleBabyPigsus · 16/12/2013 18:25

The Revlon balm stains (chubby stick type) are good too, I love the red one and it's sheer and buildable. Other brands have the same kind of thing now, try Rimmel and MUA.

More expensive but gel stains (and they last) are the YSL glosses they have a nice range of colours and a silky finish too - and it shows up.

The Chanel lip glosses are not to be beaten imo but they are quite expensive.

Figs and rouge have some lovely tinted lip balms.

The Clinique balms are nice & moisturising. Corals are very flattering. I
Think I have 20 coral lip glosses!

If you're not ready for full-on lipstick I would recommend L'Oreal Caresse - they have some beautiful colours - I wear Rebel Red which is a bit coral - and they are light and moisturising. They don't give you that dry horrible feeling some lipsticks give and they taste nice too.

Oooh thanks all. I'm stuck in the house with sick children but as soon as they're better I'm off to Boots/Superdrug to play!
