Bra help - sorry - did try!

Imwoodword · 16/12/2013 10:38

I measure 29 under bust and 35 around boobs leaning forward at the fullest part. I have tried 28f 28g 30e and 30f and none fit Xmas Sad The 28 band felt great but they all gape hugely in the cup.

What am I doing wrong? Is it because my boobs are saggy are not that pert?

Please please help!

Which brands and styles did you try in those sizes? There's a good site somewhere which helps you to identify breast shape and suggests which styles and brands are best suited to them, sorry can't remember what it's called but someone here will know. My measurements are not far off yours and I wear a 28e or 30dd/e depending upon brand and style.

They were from Figleaves, Curvy Kate daily boost balcony bra and Cleo by Panache Juna Balconnette bra. Thinking I need something with less structures cups maybe?

Will have a google for that website, thanks!

I think that you missed some sizes. You have a 6" difference which puts you at around an e. There dd snd ff. How gapey was the 28f, did you scoop too? I'd be trying 28e and f predominantly if the 28 back works

StatisticallyChallenged · 16/12/2013 13:08

P.s. a 30e is the same cup as a 28f.

SorrelForbes · 16/12/2013 13:49

The Cleo Juna does tend to gape a little at the top of the cups if you're bottom heavy. Other Cleo bras ted to fit better (eg Bella and Melissa)

Imwoodword · 16/12/2013 16:13

Well, I popped into M&S to try a variety if sizes on, to be told I'm a 34DD Hmm I obviously knew this wasn't right, but the amount of women who must leave with an awful fitting bra! I found a 30DD in a style that is perfect for my boobs, as I have "no elasticity left".

She was determined to find me one that fitted bless her and tried really hard, but kept saying the bras that gaped at the top were a perfect fit and I was used to wearing too tight a bra. Very lovely, but appalling bra fitting. I actually had o sneak the 30DD out in the bottom of the buggy to pay for it as she wouldn't have it that it was the best one!

Thanks for the advice, will have a look at Bella and Melissa. I'm actually near a Bravissimo on Saturday so will try to pop in I think for a proper fitting!

Have you been scooping?

My latest ones are 28F. I thought I'd was down to 28DD or E but couldn't get a good fit with the ones I got online. In bravissimo the woman agreed they were wrong, got me a 28F and put it on. It looked stupid, it looked like you could have fitted 2 of my boobs in the cup. Then I scooped. Perfect fit.

Imwoodword · 16/12/2013 16:22

I scoop, but they're so deflated it doesn't too much to be honest Sad

M and s bras are tending to run smallish in the band so if a 30dd works there I would try the 28e elsewhere. No surprise re the fitting. I'm a 30hh and they tried to fit me in a 36f

HelloBoys · 16/12/2013 18:25

Investinyourchest.com are a great site.

I agree re the scooping! And bravissimo are brilliant also remember your size will equate to another size so eg I'm 28ff but equivalent to 30g.

Debenhams gorgeous range has your size, quite trendy and colourful and also cheaper! Do not touch bloody m&s they're useless!

MrsHarryRamsden · 16/12/2013 18:38

what is scooping please??

SorrelForbes · 16/12/2013 18:42

MrsHarryRamsden

Taken from the Bra Guru's guide:

Lean forward, drop your breasts in to the cups and do the bra up at the back. Now, take your right hand, put it round inside the left cup, all the way round under your armpit, and scoop all the soft tissue and flesh in to the cup. You might not know it, but all that soft tissue under your armpit is breast, and it needs to be in the cup. Now, repeat on the other side. The wire should totally encase your soft breast tissue, and you should have no overspill or wrinkling in the cups. The central gore should sit flat in between your boobs.

RubyLovesShopping · 16/12/2013 18:46

Ah bra guru maybe that's the site I was thinking of they talk about whether you are globe or teardrop shape etc

RubyLovesShopping · 16/12/2013 18:47

In wood I have less tissue at top and more at bottom so balcony bras do nothing for me, plunge and deep plunge are good and fullush cups also work well.

CMOTDibbler · 16/12/2013 18:51

The Cleo gapes at the top for me too. I like the Betty from Bravissimo, and half cup bras in general. My most favourite is a Fauve one I got on ebay. I'm a 30ff, but bottom heavy, so in most plunge bras it all settles to the bottom of the cup

MrsHarryRamsden · 16/12/2013 18:52

aaaahhh, thanks sorrel, does that minimise back boobs? Smile

SorrelForbes · 16/12/2013 19:03

Yep, most people I know who have bottom heavy breasts, struggle with plunge and full cup styles.

MrsHarryRamsden Yes, it does!

Imwoodword · 17/12/2013 09:44

Bottom heavy, I like that! Have made an appointment with Bravissimo on Saturday as I am near one visiting family. Not close to a Debenhams unfortunately and don't think Internet bra shopping is the way for me! Will have a look for half cup styles.

Thanks for all the help

Imwoodword - I wouldn't do internet shopping.

BUT Figleaves staff are AMAZING if you know your size or want equivalent - seriously - if they still do their free returns etc then go for it.

have got some excellent bargains in their swimwear (bikinis) and lingerie sales.

FWIW I suit a balconette or half balconette - yes - I agree with SorrelForbes - no idea if my boobs are bottom heavy but suspect they are (they're firm too) - you can spend ages looking at boob shapes online (drawings etc) but I ask you who has the time for that?! Grin

good luck at Bravissimo seriously they're very very good.

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/12/2013 11:07

Once you are a bit more experienced online shopping becomes easier as you get to know the brands and shapes. Bravissimo is a much better option for initial fitting though
