Fly London

Has anyone had much from Fly London in the past, and if so how do you find the sizing? Also, do the boots and bags stand up well to regular use?

I am coveting the Mel boots, or possibly Mango, or the Rack cross-body bag, but will be ordering online so not much chance to feel the quality.

Thanks!

I have boots, I think they are Mel. They are on there third winter now.

Sizing is a little large on me, I bought my normal size but need to wear an insole. Whilst I love them they certainly haven't worn as well as some Dr Marten boots I bought at the same time.
Also, mine are lethal in the rain, they have no grip at all and I just slip and slide.

I guess that while I love the look of them And they are comfortable I wouldn't buy them again.

Found a shop locally that stock Mel, they're lovely Smile

I have a pair of fly london - i wont ever be buying another pair - they look fantastic but they are utter pants in bad weather. They practically attract water and it seeps straight through and soaks my feet. The stitching has all come undone and have had to glue the sole back on three times after it practically came off completely. So whilst they are nice if you only wear them in the house and take pictures of yourself in them - i don't think they are designed to actually be worn.

Ah. Out of interest did waterproofing sprays etc. make any difference?

Interesting! I bought a pair of fly boots this autumn and they are fab! Really good leather, comfy. Slightly large but fine for boots. I did treat them with a waterproof spray before I used them so maybe that's helped?

these ones in brown

Aargh! Tried them on today, 6 isn't long enough and 7 is waaaay too big! Why does no-one do half-sizes anymore?

See I read that they let in water as well before I bought them but I went ahead and bought them anyway. I have Fly Mes and Mol ones. All leather boots let in water to some degree. Leather is not a waterproof. I find them fine in light rain and walking on pavements etc. Unless you are wearing wellies, all boots let in water if you walk for long enough in the rain. They are the most comfy boots I've ever had. I'd buy them again and again. HTH

Oh I love mine, they are Maos I think (had them a while) - lace ups. I've not found them particularly bad in rain, they aren't totally waterproof but then if it was that bad I'd wear my walking boots. But they are quite comfy, pretty good grip, have lasted quite well despite no looking after, and look fab.

I have the fly Metis in black patent and they are absolutely brutal in any kind of rain. They're extremely comfortable but my feet get wet in even the smallest bit of rain.

mejon · 21/12/2013 10:52

I've got some of the Metis ones. Not worn them in torrential rain but seem ok when it's wet. They're the slightly waxy leather ones so maybe that helps. I'm usually a 4 or 5 depending on brand and the 4 is roomy enough to wear with thick socks AND they fit my giant calves and cankles with room to move Grin.

Interesting comments about Fly not being good in the wet. DP had some Fly shoes a couple of winters ago that did not survive three months of normal wear- it was wet but he doesnt even walk to work. The reseller and Fly themselves were awful about it and would not replace or refund. I am never buying Fly again.

Have mols in red and camel.
Slightly big as stretch but the calves are adjustable
The comfiest boots ever
Don't wear them in heavy rain...so don't know about the leakage issue.
Just about to order some Yustys.
Great boots.
