How much do you spend on bras?

jetSTAR · 12/12/2013 21:46

I promised myself I would treat myself to some new bras after I had finished BF DD2
Today I went to an independent local shop and got properly measured etc
I spent £150 on 2 bras - I am really pleased with them but I did not realise they would be so expensive Shock Normally I shop in M&S Blush
I wonder how much the Queen spends on bras? I guess Rigby & Peller would be even more expensive...

If they fit properly and make you feel/look good then it is worth it if you can afford it.

I buy mainly Freya bras as they fit me well so usually spend £30.

OneLittleLady · 12/12/2013 21:57

It depends. When I was at a fixed weight, I spent more money on them but now I'm slowly losing weight and changing size fairly often, I'm not spending as much as they only fit me for short periods of time. Once my weight is settled again, I will go back to paying more for them

NoAddedSuga · 12/12/2013 21:59

£30ish for one bra, i usually go for freya, panache etc

StatisticallyChallenged · 12/12/2013 23:25

Average is 30 for me- bravissimo, Cleo, ewa michalak, Freya

ShreddedHoops · 12/12/2013 23:51

What brands cost you £150 for two?! I feel extravagant if I spend £30! I usually get Calvin Klein bras from Tak Maxx.

TinselandGretel · 13/12/2013 00:26

I have teeny boobs and can get away with really cheap bras, my current favourite is about £6 from Asda. When I was bigger I needed much better quality ones.

alltoomuchrightnow · 13/12/2013 00:36

i only really buy Freya and Triumph now.. out of work most of this year so having to wear sagging old ones.. hopefully new job next year will present itself which in turn will present new undies...

alltoomuchrightnow · 13/12/2013 00:37

i have big norks so can't do cheapies..on sickness benefit £71 a week can't justify £30+ for a bra.. how do others manage ? just wear the old ones to death? or eBay? they're not usually bargainous there either for new with tags ones

merryxmasyafilthyanimal · 13/12/2013 00:41

About that, OP. Even Rigby and Pellar only had one style of bra in my size after I last got measured. Sad

Noordinarygirl · 13/12/2013 00:42

I have to go to Bravissimo as I have a small back size but massive actual boobs (32GG). They are usually around £30-ish and I now try and get matching knickers. Expensive I know but well worth it (one daughter earning her own money now - so more left over for me!) Sick to death of crappy worn out Asda/Tesco/Sainsburys pants and decided I got a bit selfish in my old age (46) and that I actually deserved some money being spent on me at last!

AdoraBell · 13/12/2013 00:47

I will spend whatever I feel like spending, when we can afford my bra habit, and I always hand wash them. Last year I got rid of a Chantelle bra I had been using for ten years. Yes, ten, 10.

Nice undies are my weakness and this year I tried a local brand - am over seas- they sell hundreds of thousands of this brand, literally everyone buys these. I Spent £12 on each bra, recycled them after the second wearing.

OP if you haven't wrecked the family's budget then just enjoy using them.

Want2bSupermum · 13/12/2013 01:02

I buy them from the sale section of the Nordstrom website. Im in the US so slightly cheaper anyway due to the lower sales tax. I normally spend anywhere from $30-50 per bra but they are reduced from $80-$100. I'm a 34DD in most brands but a 32E in Chantelle. That size is often half price.

goodasitgets · 13/12/2013 01:45

I get a lot of mine off eBay or amazon - just picked up a Cleo Panache one from amazon for £9

jetSTAR · 13/12/2013 07:09

Thanks everyone for your responses Smile
I had some money saved up so the family budget is safe. I do struggle to find comfortable good fitting bras usually, so now I have a better idea of what to look for I probably won't be spending so much again! I will also be able to look online for the brand I bought (Prima Donna) to get some bargains in the future!

Prima Dona bras are excellent and £150 sounds about right (you can find them cheaper on-line). R&P sell them too along with brands like Empreinte.

allmycats · 13/12/2013 11:54

Prima Donna are amazing, brilliant fit and last for ages and ages if cared for, I pay £65 locally for their Deauville and it looks like I am a dress size smaller and have had a boob job !!! They ar SOOOOOO worth it !!

varigatedivy · 13/12/2013 12:32

£75 a bra is a lot- even by R&P standards!

I get away with M&S mainly limited collection and sometimes John lewis- I'm a 32D.

I'd never spend more than £30 and that would have to be special.
My usual price range is £20-ish.

ElizabethBathory · 13/12/2013 13:03

A bra that fits and gives you a good shape is worth whatever you can afford to spend on it, IME! The most I've spend is around £55 on Mimi Holliday bras, but I've had great ones off eBay for a tenner. I've tried quite a few more expensive ones like Aubade and R&P, but none of them fit quite right.

jetSTAR · 13/12/2013 13:14

I'm a 38E and have come to the same conclusion as you allmycats
In the past I have tried lots of different styles that just don't fit right!

Around £30 for a bra. I go to bravissimo. Still bf so buy 2 bras when my size has changed too much so when the baby went to childcare and I want feeding in the day and my boss shrank. When I night weaned and they shank again. kind of hope they don't shrink too much more Grin .

like you though op when I stop completely I plan on really treating myself in an excellent independent place I know as I'm not having any more children and I think these boobs need some rather fantastic bras and some tlc.
