Aargh, sick of dandruff. My dc's and I all have it, use anti dandruff shampoo but still there.

Has anyone any advice?

Putting anti dandruff shampoo on dry hair and working into the scalp, then leaving for around 20 minutes before rinsing worked pretty much straight away for my ds. We just do this every few washes now and use normally in between. We tried all sorts of shampoos and potions before finding this. Hth.

After you have lathered up with the anti-dandruff shampoo leave it for a couple of mins before you rinse it out. I understood that the active ingredients need to get at the cause of the dandruff, and if you rinse it away too soon then it doesn't get that chance.

I did the above method for a few washes, my dandruff cleared after a few washes and now I use a mild anti-dandruff shampoo (Body Shop ginger one) which seems to keep everything in check. HTH.

Head and shoulders is the best I've used. Massage a liberal amount into your scalp and leave for a good 5 mins then rinse with not too hot water. A couple of washes should do the trick.
Once it's gone just use the anti dandruff once or twice a week and use your preferred one in between. Grin

Thank you! Will try these, I have switched to a cheaper shampoo and definitely wish I hadn't.

Sorry to hijack but every winter I get a dry itchy scalp line Confused (it turns cold and instantly appears!)
I have coloured hair though... Any advice on dandruff/itchy scalp shampoos that won't strip colour?

We use t gel. Used it 3 times a week for a whole bottles worth to shift the initial dandruff and now use once a month. I just use it with a coconut conditioner to mask The smell! In between I use aldi anti dandruff shampoo and conditioner. Started in August and it's gone and never come back after suffering on and off for years

Head & Shoulders is lethal- the people I know who use it say never again.

One of THE best is Philip Kingsley shampoo for dry flaky scalp it's helped mine in 2 washes.

it's not cheap- £20- but TBH my hair was breaking off at the roots and falling out due to dry slightly eczema-type flakiness.

You can buy it online.
