I teach ina non air conditioned school and have been trying to do samrt but cool. ONe of my successes has been a white pair of linen pants with a black longer linen top with a mandarin colour that has a belt at the waste. Very smart and comfortable and unbelievably from Asda, my mum saw it and bought it for me as she thought it was very me. Everytime I wear it people ask me where it was from and can't believe it.

TwinsetandPearls · 18/07/2006 22:37

MamaG · 19/07/2006 12:04

mamag how COULD you tell such a whopper
not sure you deserve that skirt.
ps. i really am what i said!

micegg · 19/07/2006 17:12

As a fellow court go-er I wouldn't recommend linen (creases). I just wear my normal skirt suit/tights with a smart t-shirt underneath and get changed into something cooler in the loos before I leave.

poisson · 19/07/2006 17:25

like superman
ok in court today the clerk was in a vest top (w ith very toned arms) and a linene skirt

we lal had our shoes OFF under the desk
i had my trews rolles upt o short lenght ( !)

controlfreaky · 19/07/2006 17:36

oy! mrs fish have you anything to say to mamag (aka big fat fibber)??

controlfreaky · 19/07/2006 17:39

can i also say as lawyer in court i HATE it when judge says "oh, its really hot in here i think anyone who wishes should remove their jackets.." as men all immediately do and sport their shirtsleeves and i keep mine on as i simply CANT stand there and do the job in short sleeved t shirt....

they said in court today and yesterday we could take our jackets off. this was a good thing as I had actually forgotten mine and left it at home. thank god I had gone for the monsoon sensible top instead of the ruffled sleeveless see through number I was contemplating this morning.

back to the original question what to wear in court. I have bought 2 hobbs linen suits. one in navy and one in brown. they are really nice with wide legs and the jackets are short and fitted. they are very cool and much better than black wool which accounts for 99 % of the rest of my court wardrobe.

2 people passed out in court today. twas very exciting and livened up an otherwise tedious day.

poisson · 19/07/2006 18:04

conttorl freaky so get over the jackets thing i love itt when they say that!
