Fringes: Everyone should have one.

Well, most people should. They frame your face, make you look younger and cover wrinkly fore heads.

So why do I see so many women slapheads around? Get a fringe.

I haven't had a fringe for about 15 years because my naturally wavy hair just kinks so awkwardly I find it intensely irritating. This way I can just hook it behind my ears.
In straight hair, I really agree with you.

Beauregard · 17/07/2006 21:27

I am a long term slap head

expatinscotland · 17/07/2006 21:27

i have one layered into my hair and LOVE it! covers up my spotty, wrinkled forehead.

Northerner · 17/07/2006 21:29

Expat I have you down as a gorgeous, stylish, effortlessly chic ladeeee and you keep saying things to shatter my illusions....

i had one but now growing it out, my hair just automatically parts in the middle, and i've got a widow's peak

expatinscotland · 17/07/2006 21:30

i now have my hair cut every 5 weeks b/c it's fairly short and i can't stand bad hair.

hulababy · 17/07/2006 21:31

I have thought about it but daren't take the leap. Haven't had a fringe since I was about 7 or 8!

Northerner · 17/07/2006 21:32

Do it do it!!! A friend of mine had one put in a few weeks back and she looks so much younger.

there are about 50 ways to cut a fringe as well, if you get a bad one it's such a pain, and don't try it yourself, i did once it was v bad

hulababy · 17/07/2006 21:33

But I don't look that old as it is! I don't want to end up looking TOO young! LOL! Might make me look even mrore like DD that I apparantly already do.

Lact8 · 17/07/2006 21:35

I am the owner of a fairly new fringe and I love it

It makes my hair looks more 'done' when it's tied back as well

(don't have a wrinkly forehead, yet, and now thinking I should've made the most of my smooth brow while it's still there )

Thomcat · 17/07/2006 21:38

They areva bugger to grow out and you have to keep it cut a lot or it looks scruffy. Been ther done it think it suits younger people better. Think a 40 yr old for example with a fringe is a bit either fash hag or too contrived or maybe just a bit weird dounno??? And I don't do layers it just goes fluffy on me.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 17/07/2006 21:41

I have a fringe. I'm 40. I look, well, astonishing really.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 17/07/2006 21:41
Smile
VeniVidiVickiQV · 17/07/2006 21:43

I dont have enough slaphead to pull off a fringe. I'd rather look like a slaphead, thank you

Lact8 · 17/07/2006 21:45

Oh well, I've got 10 years to grow it out then

But will def have wrinkles by then though!

Thomcat · 17/07/2006 22:38

Whoops, sorry Christina
What do I know, I'm talking out of my backside.
Bet you look a lot better than I do
And hey that's no easy feat let me tell you

Smurfgirl · 17/07/2006 22:41

I lurve my fringe, so flattering. Although I am 22 with no wrinkles so it doesn't hide anything really

I recently ended up with the same haircut I had when I was 6, blunt bob and blunt fringe and it looked so sophisticated! Funny how things come round. Looks like a chip pan now though ho hum.

Smurfgirl · 17/07/2006 22:42

I am not 22, I am 21 (am 22 on weds so it is on my mind - will be 21 as long as poss)

Snafu · 17/07/2006 22:44

I have a fringe to cover up my enormous slaphead and my amusing collection of spots.

I like it - although it's currently looking a bit wonky since I trimmed it in desperation with the kitchen scissors

It's slightly geeky but in a good way, I think...

Xena · 17/07/2006 22:44

currently looking for a new 'do' and have read in those hair mags that the fringe is the thing to have. but as i seem to have spent the last 10 years with a fringe or growing it out i'm un convinced. Have a cut booked for 2 weeks time in which time I will have had to pick a style. DD has a polly pocket doll that has short dark hair with fringe that I love but can hardly take a polly pocket in to the hairdressers with me

KBear · 17/07/2006 22:48

I have longish layered hair incorporating a particularly fetching fringe and I'm 38 and I just don't care! And I have a wrinkle-free forehead and have been recently told (albeit by a 65 year old retiring colleague - possibly short sighted ) that I am beeootiful!

noddyholder · 17/07/2006 22:55

I would love a fringe but it looks terrible on me although I have gone for it in the past and its true its hard to grow out but wrinkly forehead is telling me to get one!

LadyTamba · 17/07/2006 22:58

I look about 12 with a fringe.... I still get asked for ID now and im 23! DOnt fancy the truant officer stopping me in town asking why im not in school, so will stay fringless for now

NotAnOtter · 17/07/2006 23:04

bin the fringe and get botox
