Retinol - will it help forehead (vertical) lines?

Am seriously considering buying some - but wondered if it will work on frown lines - they are not deep and was considering Botox next year when I finish breastfeeding. Will retinol help in the meantime? Advice plse x

doubt it will do much tbh. I think botox is the way forward. check that you can use retinol when bf.

I don't think you can use it while bf.

It would make the skin look better but it won't get rid of deep wrinkles.

I think it will help but not make perfect. BUT can't be used while breastfeeding - sorry!

You can't use a prescription strength retinoid whilst breastfeeding, so any tretinoin/retin-a cream is out.

However many over the counter creams contain retinol (which is not the same thing as the pure tretinoin or retinoic acid contained in retin-a) and these are perfectly safe to use. However the reason they are sold over the counter and are perfectly safe to use is because they're not strong enough to produce much in the way of side effects or make much difference. That doesn't mean they don't work at all - just that the effects are slight and take a long period of use to show up.

So it's up to you. ROC are a good brand to try if you want a safe, over the counter product containing retinol.

I'd say you'd get quicker results with botox though honestly!

Just as an aside the Boots protect and perfect range contain very small amounts of retinol. Remember when they were able to prove that the range worked (albeit only slightly) in terms of anti-ageing and women were queuing everywhere to buy it? That was why.

Thanks guys - I may just wait until the summer then as I hope to bf dd2 for a year (she was born in may). The lady who recommended it to me - is a nurse who has trained as an aesthetician: so I'm wondering why she thought it would be ok?
