Rosacea advice please

comingintomyown · 08/12/2013 08:50

I have had Rosacea for around six months and have been using Metronidazole for around the last three and it has taken it down a bit but seems to have stayed the same for a while now ie a general redness rather than the bumps and lumps

I have googled all the triggers etc but just wondered if anyone had found either the Clinique Red Solutions or the Liz Earle moisturiser helpful ? I have been using Olay after the gel but am thinking that May not be a good idea.

All advice would be welcome

I have tried everything on th market that is "anti-redness" and never found anything remotely helpful.
Although I can't recommend your suggestions, I can tell you what worked for me. I had terrible raging red face that was flaky and bumpy. Mine is now not at all bad - OK texture, minimal redness & no burning.
Here's my routine:
Cetaphil daily cleanser (for dry skin) from big branches of boots or Amazon. Removed with hot flannel/cloth.
Cetaphil daily moisturiser (tube - not pump - also boots/amazon)
Estée Lauder Double Wear - good coverage & colours for super pale skin
Cut out all fruit juice (weird but made massive difference!)
Hope some of this might help.

I have had it for years and found skineron from the GP better than the metron.......... one. I have used Liz Earle but the answer for me is oil-free everything. I use clinique anti-redness cleanser, mild clarifying lotion as I like the "toner" bit and then the anti-redness moisturiser.

For make up I use clinique anti redness base and then either cc cream on a less make up day or the anti redness foundation for a bit more coverage. I also really rate the almost make up powder compact as it is also oil free.

If I put the smallest bit of oil on my face I react immediately. HTH.

Thank you for those suggestions I guess it's going to be a lot of trial and error !

I also had the metronidazole, it did nothing for me! Then had Skineron prescribed (azelaic acid) and it has cleared up almost completely.

Back to the GP with you!

Gluten-free diet. A pain but worked for me. Lots of good fats in diet from fish and/or nuts and evening primrose supplement.
Washing face with Selsun shampoo also helped but be careful; it's seriously drying and only suitable for short-term use.
