Why did I start this, I'm terrible for keeping clothes with tags on for years, fed up of a messy wardrobe and always feeling like I have nothing to wear, forgot I brought 5 new jumpers/ tops in last few weeks as they just get buried under the crap!!!

Please give me some tips on a winter wardrobe of things I actually like!!!

First things first, take out anything that is too old/knackered to wear (unless you can and will fix it I the next week or so).

With what's left, remove anything that doesn't fit or you hate.

With what's left, you need to put together a wardrobe full of outfits/looks that you like, that suit you and that you feel good in.

Stay strong, OP. I do the same thing every year and feel the same about the chaos. I do get some good ideas for putting things together from dragging everything out though.

Put everything back in your wardrobe but with the hangers facing backwards. When you wear things put them back in the wardrobe on forward facing hangers. After 6 weeks or so throw away anything that is still on a backwards facing hanger ;-)

That's a really good idea about the hangers!

Ha ha! I can sympathise as I am often let with loads of clothes on the bed and then have to quickly bung them all back again as I run out of time to deal with them. I am much better at doing it for other people!

I think you need to rope in a friend who Will be brutally honest about what's worth keeping.

My problem is being ruthless with gift I don't like, massively out of fashion or a bit worn, but still fits.

I didn't have a lot of money growing up and I find it very hard to throw out stuff I could wear, but don't.

Choose an outfit each for a funeral, wedding, party,.....

choose a couple of outfits for work, and outdoors, beach............

take the rest to the charity shop. or clothes bank. Be ruthless. Oxfam will make into food and shelter, what a gift, clothes bank will recycle even rags.

Try to see it as making room for new.

Promise yourself a treat, open a bottle of wine once the car is totally full of bin bags.

Oh, this is me! Thought it would be a good idea to sort everything so go clothes down from the loft as well because have eg bag of winter clothes that I forget about up there... Just bought a load of winter tights and then found some in a bag I bought and forgot about last year...Sad Have found loads of things that I'd forgotten about, including a dress that I wished I hadn't given to a charity shop, and found that actually, I hadn't..Grin Now need to be ruthless about the rest. Am gonna think about what would be worth taking with me if I moved house next week. And not buy anything unless I get can identify something to get rid of.
