This one

or

this one?

I am middle-aged but have no desire to appear it necessarily Grin.
Dress code at work is smart/casual, not at all corporate.

What'ya think, style goddesses?

Thanks

I could pull of the first pair.

I couldn't pull off the second pair. I think someone very young might be able to.

helzapoppin2 · 04/12/2013 21:56

Can I just ask if Fly London shoes have squidgy cushiony insoles?
I have sad middle aged feet and can only wear shoes with some interior padding now.

PacificDogwood · 04/12/2013 21:56

Yes, I think that's the issue, isn't it, Lynette - a hip, young thing might get away with nr2.
Sadly, I was never hip, even when I was young Grin

helz, no, no interior cushioning, but they are very soft-soled, so I do find them very comfortable and can be on my feet all day in them.

I like 2nd pair!

NearTheWindmill · 04/12/2013 22:00

Prefer the first but couldn't wear that heel all day. Admires own Gabor wedges with padded insole and supportive arch Smile. Van Dal are quite good too but Mnet usually just laughs. But some are quite pretty and they don't make my old feet hurt which means I keep smiling and have less wrinkles on the face that people see more than my feet. If you sort of know what I mean Grin

NoComet · 04/12/2013 22:01

I couldn't wear one for five minutes, but the straps mean I might last 15 minutes in two.

Both are hideous

PacificDogwood · 04/12/2013 22:04

No, see, I can cope with Clarks, but Van Dal are just A Step Too Far, sorry. I am sure they are supremely comfortable.
And I don't like Gabor either even though I kinda grew up with them...

A vote for Nr2, yeah! Thanks, cosikitty

I just think Clarks are always frumpy. They just never seem to get it quite right.

If they're for work, I'd say number 1.

But I'm sure you could find something better.

cookielove · 04/12/2013 22:05

First pair made me laugh out loud at their hideousness (is that even a word) thought you couldn't find anything ugly, but then I clicked on number two and I was proved so wrong.

Sorry if that offends! Blush

polyhymnia · 04/12/2013 22:13

I think the same as sanity on Clark's. To me, always just 'off''.
I need comfort. Wear Geox (carefully chosen from their shops), Russell and Bromley, L K Bennett.

PacificDogwood · 04/12/2013 22:22

cookie, don't hold back, love Grin

Oh, R+B are fab, just a bit out of price range unless in a sale.

Hm.
Might wait for the sales...

Sorry OP but both pairs are heinous.

The first pair look like something Barbara Woodhouse would have worn. Or Audrey Forbes-Hamilton. Showing my age now.

The second lot look like a half-arsed attempt to be edgy, but just look ugly.

You can combine comfort and style, but not with those shoes. I'd rather be in pain than have my feet look ugly!

burnishedsilver · 04/12/2013 23:21

I liked the first ones when I saw them in the shop but they were uncomfortable when I tried them on.

maishoffwcingras · 04/12/2013 23:26

sorry another one who doesn't like either

lookatmybutt · 04/12/2013 23:49

I say Fly too and I like to think I'm pretty groovy but I have delicate princess feet. I have some strappy platform wedges by them, and they don't look like they should be comfortable, but they are. By magic?

How about these, these are cool:

www.flylondonshop.co.uk/womens/all-shoes/fill

There are also tons of different Fly styles on ebay.

paperlantern · 05/12/2013 06:54

I love them bothBlush

hairymonkey · 05/12/2013 07:17

Fly have a pair if shoes called yoni, enough said. Fly are proper mum shoes down my way. Save yourself for the sales.

MrsBucketxx · 05/12/2013 07:31

Fly shoes are really frumpy and ugly.

The first pair are much much better. I always think fky wearers own a pair of crocs in summer. And will wear gabor later in life.

BikeRunSki · 05/12/2013 07:32

White Stuff shoes are comfy and a lot nicer than either if those OP. I usually like Clarkes, I even have some, but not those. I am also old and like comfy shoes. Hate the mart casual dress code at work. I knew where I was with a suit.

HanneHolm · 05/12/2013 07:36

i hate FLY - my mil has them and she is in her late 60s

i think the clarks one with fish net tights would look ace

Snowbility · 05/12/2013 07:44

I vote for the first pair - love the fish nets idea.

impty · 05/12/2013 07:52

Nope neither. I think some people could pull of the first pair, but you'd have to do it in a young, knowingly ironic way. So maybe you can.

I tried to pull of a tartan mini kilt, realised I was more Miss Jean Brodie in biker boots, than hip and cool. So I don't think I could get away with those shoes.

beachyhead · 05/12/2013 07:58

Hate the first...

Love the second ...Grin

Dollydowser · 05/12/2013 08:01

I have no.2, as I have to stand all day for work. They are comfortable and look nice with dresses which is also what I wear. I do like Fly shoes but they are too narrow for me.
