Can you get rid of lumps caused by spots?

I generally have good skin but occasionally get big spots on my face-almost cyst like! Sometimes they can be 'got rid of' early on, but if they can't-they get big and painful with no head and last for ages. I had one of these nearly a month ago and it's very slowly going-doesn't hurt any more, but there's a definite lump there. It's skin coloured rather than red.

Is there anything I can do to make it go away quicker? What is inside it!!?

I get these. Can't offer any help, but sympathies! Watching with interest.

It's rubbish, isn't it!? I was hoping there might be some sort of vanishing cream nobody had told me about!

I get them too. And every bloody time I have a squeeze, even though I know it's pointless, and I'm left with a big red mess that looks so much worse. One day I'll learn...

I'm currently sporting the exact same thing on my chin, like you op I rarely get spots but when I do they seem huge and quite indestructible. Like others I always squeeze and prob make it worse, I also like to add a drop of perfume onto the blighter to try to kill it off (this does burn a bit).

Ask advice from a pharmacist in Boots etc?

FoxyHarlow123 · 03/12/2013 18:30

It's cystic spots and hormonal. Topical treatments won't make a difference unfortunately.

i heard sudocrem can be quite good but not tried it myself

stardusty5 · 03/12/2013 18:48

Personally I always get these kind of spots at this time of year- not sure if its to do with central heating being on, stress or what.

I've been plugging away with the toothpaste as usual but theyre persistent, and like previous poster was daft enough to have a squeeze.

Was only just considering buying some sudocrem for my face this morning Following with interest for magic cure!

Calamine lotion is supposed to be good for the purpose, read it on MN a week ago. Also here

Caroline hirons blog, her acne cheat sheet is really good. My skins loads better.

www.thebodyshop.co.uk/skincare/accessories/facial-massager.aspx I'm finding this good, used lightly.

microdermabrasion treatment is supposed to help and on a weekly basis use a facial peel - should reduce the clog factor for future spots. Soap and Glory do a nice product.

fedup21 · 18/12/2013 09:23

Thank you people! I didn't think of asking a pharmacist! I will try the calomine-do you just dab a bit on at bedtime?

I have the lump left from a spot I had before the October half term holiday-that's weeks ago!!

Glycolic acid from bravura works for me.
