two questions about PERFUME, etiquette and perfume itself HELP

right was out yesterday at the theatre and I asked the woman next to me what her perfume was as she smelled so nice, this sent her into embarrassed hysterics as she didn't wear any. I felt a little surprised and wondered if this was The Wrong Thing To Do.
Is it?

I think its rather flattering

ANYWAY i need help identifying the perfume which must have belonged to the rather soignée woman in front of me,

It smelled like Avda hair care does - kind of geranium musky slightly medicinal but warm, I looked at aveda, they don't do perfume but if they DID it would be this.
I have Tom ford the black one and its like that a bIT but less smoky

any ideas?

Coco Noir is supposedly similar (but softer) to Tom Ford Black Orchid if that's what you meant?

Can't help regarding the etiquette I'm afraid... maybe could have asked what fabric conditioner she used?!

gaggiagirl · 01/12/2013 13:20

Some women won't tell what perfume they are wearing as they want to keep their signature scent a secret. That could have been the case.

I still ask people though as people ask me.

Try Narciso Rodriguez "for her" which is one of my favourites and smells very much as you describe. I wear it on its own during the day and Layer it with Kiehl's musk oil in the evening.

Ooh if forgotten about coco noir just tried aromatics elixir. Not that

You could try Prada Amber, as it has a medicinal benzoin note and the amber gives it a real warmth too.

Bradsplit · 01/12/2013 17:24

Thanks. I think I looked at that quizzically earlier

I always tell people what scent I'm wearing when they ask.

If more people tried to buy my signature scent, maybe it wouldn't cost so much £££ and I wouldn't have to perform a black mass on midsummer's night in order to get it.

Actually, that would be easier. At the moment is costs a billion pounds because it became fashionable in Rome or something.

I'm not much good at perfume ID. Have you tried Basenotes?

AntoinetteCosway · 01/12/2013 17:55

Aveda do do perfume! Or they certainly used to. I used to wear one of theirs called Fire which was gorgeous-quite musky.
