Talk to me about the BBH

First time I have dipped my toe into S&B! I am trying to decide whether to put a Babyliss Big Hair on my Christmas List - can anyone give me an idea if it would be suitable?

I have very thick but fine hair if that makes sense - i.e. there's a lot of it but it's not coarse, very flyaway. It used to be straight with a hint of a wave but over the years has got more of a curl which I quite like.

I have it cut sort of shoulder length with long layers, in a side parting. I suppose it is a bit of a Rachel but hopefully not as dated as that.

They dry it so nicely with round brush at the hairdresser but I have never managed to achieve this at home and I thought the BBH might be able to recreate it? But I don't want big hair exactly, just to make the most of the natural curl so it looks bouncy.

At the moment I either blow dry it which makes it a bit straw-like, or else let it dry naturally which leaves a bit of a frizz. I put a bit of moroccan oil on it but nothing else. It's dark blonde and highlighted (about once or 2ce a year as that's all I can afford). I am generally very low maintenance and don't wear makeup unless going out but I do like to look nice.

Any thoughts on if the BBH is for me would be appreciated, and additionally if anyone has any product or styling tips that would be great.

I have exactly the same hair as you! Cut and everything. Very odd haha.

I have the BBH and it does take some practice but the results are good for hair like ours. I find I need to use some sort of smoothing serum/hair product for it to work well, otherwise it just goes frizzy and full of static. Also I have a little spray bottle with water in just to dampen the next section before I start using the brush, because my hair tends to be too dry once I get towards the last sections. The result is like when you have it done at the hairdressers and it goes nice and flicky (technical term) at the ends. It can be a bit hit and miss though but I think that's down to the fact I need a bit more practice with mine.

I really need to start using mine more!

I think you have very similar hair to me. I also have masses of very fine hair although mine is long. I tried the BBH for the first time yesterday ... It's fab. I am very lazy so instead if sectioning my hair and doing it properly, I just rough dried my hair, then turned my head upside down and used the rotating brush to smooth my layers. Then sat normally and gave it a final once over. I'm sure that I could do a better job but even with that very slapdash approach my hair looked noticeably better, sleeker and more volume. Next time I will do it

Properly!

Ah curious I was wondering if I could get away with doing that - my hair takes ages to dry.

Felix good to hear, that is really useful and excellent technical tips.

Looks like I might be putting it on the Xmas list...

I have IDENTICAL sounding hair to you, even colourwise, except mine is ever so slightly longer at the front than the back... (short bits at the front make my face look fat)

Does it always take you 4 hours to get highlights done?!

Anyway I bought a BBH a few months ago and I do really like it but it's not 100% perfect.

It gives me sleek, "professional" looking hair although I sometimes get impatient with all the sectioning as I have so much hair.

What I find it lacks is giving me volume in the roots, so if I want big hair I use a volume sing powder or dry shampoo on it first. Don't use much else in the way of products except a tiny bit of finishing creme to get rid of flyaways. I find the BBH banishes frizz pretty well.

On me it gets rid of all curls/waves - I think I'd need longer hair for it to work with that.

Workberk yy to the 4 hr highlights, and they always have to get more wrap-strips halfway through. Gosh there's more of it than I realized! is a phrase often heard (about my hair not my arse, although both would be reasonable).

Do you all have the 42mm or the 50mm? I didn't realise there was more than one type till just now.

I loved mine at first but now find that my fine hair is really dry and fragile. I only use it occasionally now and always with hair protector
