I want to buy my sister a jumper for Xmas. She's a total fabric snob, total snob, and will only wear natural fabrics. However, she is not a label snob. So I can buy in any shop, as long as it's decent quality and natural fabric. I would love to buy this weekend, with all the sales, preferably over t'interweb.
She's hourglass 14, auburn hair, blue eyes, sallow skin. (Yes she's fab). Budget up to £80.

All the jumpers I link are plain, cos that's what she likes, and it suits her. Throws on a jumper and jeans and looks as good as if she were all dressed up. How is that. Doesn't work for me.

the gap colours are a bit bon marche aren't they?. I think a deeper jewel colour would be much more flattering on your sis.

White Company. I always think the white company clothes colours are not great except for blondes and blue eyed folk. Am I wrong? Shame cos my sister would like them.

Yes you are right gaggia. Crayola crayon box colours are fab on my sister. I have a DD with similar colouring, god she's gorgeous.

I am a fabric snob too. I love Gap knitwear, also Lands End and Celtic & Co ( used to be Celtic Sheepskin, but they have branched out into clothes too).

I have had a lot of quality issues with Woolovers. The lambswool bobbles v quickly and the cashmere-merino mix bursts into holes. This has happened with several jumpers over several years.

Does your sister wear jumpers like this a lot? I only ask because I am similar build and I was looking through the thread for salvation but over the years I have tried similar style jumpers to the ones shown and they make me look very fat. In fairness it is not the jumpers fault ........

Oh no, that's a shame about Woolovers. They look like good quality at a very good price. Too good to be true maybe? The kids have Land'sEnd winter jackets, excellent quality, will check them out later. Celtic sheepskin too.

Yes, neunund, she wears jumpers all the time. And I agree, she might look fantastic in other clothes, but she has zero interest in fashion, and a massive interest in staying warm. A shapely not-too-fitted jumper suits her. She's so long dressing like this that she looks wrong in other clothes!

Just realised she's an hourglass. Could you perhaps gently encourage her to branch out with a much more flattering cropped cardi?
I'm also an hourglass, and tbh the only jumpers I can bear are soft and drapey/clingy or shortish and fitted. Boxy crews just disguise the slimmest part (the waist), and make me look portly and shapeless.
It's the figure shape often aspired to but rarely exists naturally - seems a shame to disguise it!

Indeed I could encourage her, Shotgun but it ain't gonna happen. I have spent years encouraging. She just feels uncomfortable and wrong in other clothes. And somehow or other her look is her. Softly fitted is as good as it gets.

Back from gap!

They had some gorgeous chunky knits in ok ish colours and some cotton knits that I know don't last for more than 5 washes in completely batty colour ways. My eyes nearly fell out at the yellow and green stripe one.

There was a great deal of peach tones too. Im not a buyer of pastels.
