I'm keen to avoid all SLS and parabens and all the other nasties I've been reading about, but it is pretty confusing. Anyone here an expert?

I'd like to get a bathbomb for Xmas, have gone through all their Christmasy ones and I think this one is the only one that is ok: www.lush.co.uk/product/5678/Cinders-Bath-Bomb

Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Coarse Sea Salt, Popping Candy, Perfume, Gardenia Extract, Almond Essential Oil, Sweet Orange Oil, Cinnamon Leaf Oil, Cinnamal, Eugenol, *Limonene, Colour 14700
*occurs naturally in essential oils

Does anyone see anything horrid in that list please?

The perfume, I have asked in store about this before and they couldn't tell me exactly what it was.

Moanyoldboot · 27/11/2013 18:45

Sorry am assuming you are avoiding for skin issues (excema etc) apologies if you're not

Suddengeekgirl · 27/11/2013 18:48

I asked in LUSH a while ago about SLS etc free products. The girl said they didn't have any! Hmm
(To be fair I asked rather than reading tonnes of small print so she could have been wrong.)

Watching with interest as would be nice to get some smellies I could actually use this Christmas. :)

YoniRotten · 27/11/2013 19:10

Thanks, Moany. It's for my toddler, who doesn't have skin issues, but after reading up on SLS etc, I am keen to avoid them.

geek, yeah! I asked too, but they didn't really know? I have emailed Lush before and they wrote back that they didn't think SLS were as bad as made out. I would prefer to steer clear though. The above bathbomb doesn't have SLS, as far as I can tell, but there are so many confusing names for all sorts of things, I am not entirely sure what else I should be avoiding to remain as 'pure' for want of a better word, re toiletries for my young child.

Please keep me posted if you find anything nice elsewhere! :)

I don't know how 'bad' exactly SLS are. But I am allergic to them as my skin tightens up and gets dry and itchy. I can get away with one use but if I use them daily I'd be very scaly! Confused

I've been shopping in holland and barratt for shampoo/ conditioner. The bodyshop do a rainforest range which is SLS free too. Nothing that feels very 'special' iykwim. Hmm

I've bought the dcs the earth friendly organic baby bubble bath before. Think it was quite 'good' chemical wise. It foamed up nicely but didn't dry their skin.

Hope I can help, I used to work for lush but it's been a while! There is no SLS in cinders, SLS is used as a foaming agent and some of the bath bombs have them in (these are the newer style slow frothy fizzing ones) any products that you find on the website that don't have SLS on the ingredients list will not contain it. Butterball is a great one without SLS and really moisturising on dry or sensitive skin. HTH

pinkangelita · 27/11/2013 20:08

Oh meant to add that there are no preservatives in cinders, or in fact the majority of, if not all of the solid products as that is why they are made solid in the first place. (to avoid using any preservatives) the preservatives lush use are propylparaben and methalparaben (although I have probably spelt them wrong Grin)

PeazlyPops · 27/11/2013 20:14

After seeing the complaints on the Lush customer corum, I'd steer clear of all their products!

There are customers that have experienced skin and bath staining, thrush, allergic reactions etc.

Suddengeekgirl · 27/11/2013 20:38

Peazlypops - i can believe that after seeing the state of SIL's bath after she let the dc's have a bathbomb at bath time! Confused glad it wasn't my bath! :)

YoniRotten · 27/11/2013 21:40

Thanks, pink, looks like the cinders is as ok as Lush can be, but Peazly has put me right off.

suddenly, I don't know either, but I would rather err on the side of caution when it comes to toiletries for my child.

I have nice toiletries for my child (naked at boots is nice) but I was after something special for Xmas.

Exactly, the last thing you want to be doing after a relaxing bath is scrubbing it clean!

I still shudder at the memory of my niece coming to stay, and bringing a glittery lush bath bomb to use. There was glitter all over the house for weeks, even the cat was sparkling!
