The best skin care products/regime

Rather selfishly I thought I'd start a thread about the best skin care products as I have no idea! But thought I'd try and make it helpful for others too.

If we all post our skin type and what we're after along with the products we do/don't use, we could see what's good! And also what to avoid.

I'll start...

I am in my early 30s and have oily skin. I don't have any wrinkles yet but I can see lines developing around my eyes. Shock I'd like to stay wrinkle free and make my skin brighter and smoother. At the moment I use Boots own brand wipes and whatever soap/shower gel is in the shower and occasionally a bit of Nivea.

Hoping an oily skinned MNetter can tell me what are the best products to get!

Oh and my review is that these are fine and functional for very basic cleaning and moisturising. Smile

I'm 30, have oily, dehydrated skin, and I use the Shiseido Ibuki cleanser with clarisonic in the morning, concentrate (which is like a serum) and moisturiser. In the evening, I use Clinique Take the day off cleansing balm, then use the Ibuki concentrate and moisturiser.

It works really well with my skin.

Anyone else...?

My dad was a big believer in carbolic soap.

I'm almost 30 and I have dry and very sensitive skin, but I can't use oily cream because it makes my skin shine I don't like it. I'm looking for good moisuring cream but I can't for so many years choose something for me.

I don't think wipes clean your face properly. I'm on the oily side, and I've had a good experience with Boots no 7 cleansing water (bought with one of their periodic £5 vouchers). I'm a bit of a moisturiser tart and just now I'm using Aldi Lacura Q10 SPF 15. Cheap as chips, works really well.

Super drug vitamin e range hot cloth has been compared to luz Earle . The face oil and day creams all seem good too ! They are only three to five pounds and are on 2 for three at mo!

I'm 38 and have combination skin with a t-zone tending towards oiliness, and a more normal cheek area. My main concerns are eliminating minor hormonal break-outs, addressing early signs of ageing, and just generally maintaining skin that looks healthy, glowing, and in great condition.

Am a bit of a skin care obsessive Blush, have tried everything, researched until my eyeballs have nearly fallen out, spent far too much money, and this is what I now use and what really works for me. None of it (bar one item) is expensive and my skin is the best its ever ever been. I'm complimented on it and asked what I use often, which feels great.

AM - Cleanse with Avene extremely gentle cleanser and a muslin cloth.

Apply vitamin C anti-oxidant serum (this is the one item I splurge on, at the moment I'm using Alpha H, but skinceuticals do a really good one too.)

Apply Vichy global normaderm hydrating care - this obviously hydrates skin but is also full of AHA's and BHA's, which keep the pores clear.

Then lastly I use Neutrogena oil-free moisture with broad spectrum SPF 35. Every day. No exceptions. In hot sunny weather I use Obagi Nuderm SPF 50.

PM - Remove make-up with La Roche Posay eye make up remover and micellar lotion.

Cleanse with Avene extremely gentle cleanser and a muslin cloth.

Apply retin-a 0.5

About an hour later moisturise with Cetaphil cream.

That's my basic routine. It's not glam, there's no beautiful packaging, but it works. Other products I like and occasionally use as the need arises include Clarins lotus oil, Guerlains midnight secret late night recovery treatment, and Nuxe fresh hydrating mask.
