so its 2013 and a google for trousers for big thighs and this thread came up. what are our chunky thighed ladies wearing these days? I used to always wear poly black 'smart' trousers but have been wearing (out) 2 pairs of black bootleg jeans (DP I think) and struggled with the waist gap :( really need to go trouser shopping and considering going back to smart trousers as they're cheap, comfy and flattering with the thin material. I'm only 5'4" and hourglassy but deffo not a wellformed one ha

I recently bought the Martha trousers from white stuff (they are a sort of tweedy fabric) and they fit well - I have a small waist but large bum and thighs.

I also bought Real Straight cords from Gap which are a more up to date straight shape than my old boot cut cords, less fabric round the calf than bootcut but definitely not skinnies. There is a little gapping round the waist but not too bad.

Uniqlo straight jeans are good too but the colour sheds bloody everywhere

Ill be watching this with interest as Im sick of searching through racks and racks of skinny jeans and not being find anything other than boot legs which are still too tight on my thunder thighs :-(
Im overweight in general so too lumpy too wear dresses over leggings (and Ive got fat knees )
Im on a diet but need something to wear in the meantime

Marking place. My thigh/waist discrepancies mean I'm all about the skirts, trousers are so practical though.

I've resorted to wearing skirts, out of despair at finding any trousers/jeans that fit me :(

I'm not a fan of my legs. And the best skirts for me are pencil skirts, which always look better with heels and I suck at wearing heels :(

Best skirts for me are pleated or skater style - but they need to be quite slim fitting over the waist and hips and then only flare out at the top of the thighs (if the pleats start at the waist I look horribly frumpy).

Pencils are only ok with mega heels since as well as having a large bottom and thighs, I am also short

I struggle with trousers because of the waist/thigh ratio!

I have a pair of tweedy trousers from Next which are very flattering. The material is very thick and sort of sucks everything in. I've had them over a year though so that's not much use!

I find that most trousers/jeggings/jeans these days have thin material which just shows every lump and bump and often give bad camel toe as well.

Jean wise I live in Gap High Rise Skinnies. Again, thickish denim with a good smoothing/sucking it in effect.

I have the waist/thigh ratio problem too - Boden bistro trousers are the only skinny trousers that fit me. Dresses and skirts suit and fit me much better, though I do love the look of skinny jeans and trousers. I used to love wide leg trousers, especially tweed ones, but you don't see many of them about these days.

I ordered the Boden bistro trousers in a 12 with high hopes but they were too tight on the thighs and massive on the waist and I just looked lumpy. Maybe I should try a 14 and get the waist tailored? I've lost weight recently and my waist is back down to about 27.5 so I know a 14 will be massive. Hips are still 40" though!

I have the same problem as you all with the waist gap and have finally given up the search for perfection. I now buy trousers I absolutely love, a size up, then get them tailored to fit me exactly!
There's a dressmaker near my home who does a great job so all new trousers go straight to her these days. It means an extra £10 or so on top of the price of the clothes but it's worth ever penny IMO!

I'm going to have to get a dressmaker to reduce waist to get work trousers to fit. Last winter spent an hour or so in Next on a quiet weekday trying every style of work trousers - sales assistant eventually gave up & brought me a couple of different pairs of jeans that fitted perfectly - they had dozens of styles of work trousers but none worked for curves. Seems to be the same with most retailers - bizarre considering most women can wear trousers to work (& I'd wear them a lot more if I could buy something decent). Boden bistro seems the best option for altering for me too - just maddening that their sizing is so erratic - good inch difference in size between the navy & black in the same size that I tried. Boden spring chinos worked fine for me without alteration for work trousers - the autumn chinos more or less fit at the waist but they've altered the shape so they are just skinny casual trousers - no longer smart enough for work.

I love Ann Taylor's Curvy Fit - unfortunately they ship from US and no free returns. I find the sizing consistent though, so I still order a pair every now and then. Have smaller waist, but more room for hips and thighs.
