Had my colours done today and apparently I am a golden spring...but I really don't like any of my supposed "wow" colours which included coral, cinnamon, tan, salmon, oatmeal YUK! I don't anything in these colours and really am not attracted to them. I have blonde hair and blue eyes and always tended towards bright, strong colours like blues, greens, purples. I can't imagine me wanting to buy clothes in these colours so am left feeling rather underwhelmed and confused Confused

Hello! Yes, I was. So much so, that I had it done, err, several times. (Twice by CMB, who got it 'right' twice and twice by HOC - definitely wrong once, which is what threw me.)

If you are a golden spring, you are still a general spring and can wear all the colours in the palette. There are plenty of bright strong colours in there - in fact, I'm a Spring and struggle with how bright they are (as I feel like a cbeebies presenter in full 'spring' regalia - so I tone them down a lot).

I was horrified I had tan as a double star too.... I am never going to wear that top to toe. Or on a top. But I had other ones I liked. Coral can be really nice in spring/summer - honest Wink. And the spring blues and greens are really nice. And there is a poppy red (I think) plus geranium pinks/reds etc....

Well the colours that suit you and the colours you like may just be different.
I love salmon and coral and muted pinks and greyish blues, but I'm dark and have cool undertones so can't wear any of those colours...

Give your new colours a chance and they may grow on you, specially when you start getting loads of compliments.

tug you are right, i probably just need to put my prejudices to one side and give my colours a go, who knows I might be pleasantly surprised.

travelin no not really, I didn't really see when I looked illuminated or washed out...to be honest I couldn't really see beyond that i liked or disliked the colour itself rather than what it did for me IYSWIM.

Maketea - don't know but maybe you could ask to go back for a 30 minute sort of 're-rate' to check? I'm sure the consultant won't want you to feel like this... It should be fun and useful!!! If you really can't see it, she may have got it wrong although it's more likely they are just colours you're not used to. Maybe Confused.

There are some lovely spring colours though - give them a go! It's a bad time of year to find them though... Ask her for ideas of where to shop!

Thelovecats · 25/11/2013 15:08

Go back and talk through it with her, they wouldn't want you to leave feeling like that. I wonder though if you had such a strong idea of the colours you liked if that has swayed your opinion too much and you didn't really give it a chance?

MakeTeaNotWar · 25/11/2013 15:33

lovecats I think you are probably right which is a shame - might give her a call

Maketea as lovecats says, a consultant would hate you to go away unhappy/confused etc. Were there other people in your class? Sometimes being done one-to-one can be trickier as (a) you don't see other people being done and (b) you don't have the added reinforcement of them seeing it on you. If it's jut you and you can't really 'see' it, you need to rely entirely on the consultant. I would get back in touch and explain your issues and ask if you can see her again/sit in on another class/chat to some of her clients at an open event or something.

And as others have said, don't flap too much about just wearing your ** colours. There are bright blues, greens and purples, so if they are the colours that make you happy, wear them!

FWIW I am a consultant and I don't really like brown or amber, both of which which I ** in, so i just don't wear them. No one has come around to bully me into wearing it yet! There should be enough colours in your palette that you can avoid any that you don't like.
