Nice, inexpensive, underwear present sets

I have looked through past threads for recommendations for Bra/knicker/thong presents, but haven't been able to find any, so apologies if this has been done to death.

I am looking to buy underwear for older teens in the family, (they don't like La Senza). I know that they think they are over priced for the quality.

The sizes are 34-36 DD. I know that one girl doesn't suit balcony style. My budget is La Senza prices, at most.

Asda hasn't much in, that isn't Balcony style. I buy mine mismatched in sales, except for shape wear, I bargain hunt.

Can anyone make any recommendations, even to websites, please?

OP I'm not disputing the cup size, it is the back size I'm querying.

I am a size 16, and I take a 32 back size. So if they really are a size 18/20 then perhaps those are the right sizes, otherwise they are probably more like a 28/30 back with a GG+ cup.

Dawn where did you get them measured, M&S? Are they actually 36 inches around the ribcage?? If not then they haven't been measured properly and are wearing the wrong bra size.

Yup the dd is in no way the issue. Many so called reputable bra retailers-m and s, la senza, bhs....-use an outdated measuring system which results in far too big a band and too small a cup. Properly fitted I am a 30hh. Marks fitted me with a 36f.

Dawn there is no chance a size 8 is actually a 36 back. It's almost impossible. They have been mis-fitted. Have a look at thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.co.uk

in M&S for example, womens clothes in a size 8 equate to a 32 inch bust. Based on this alone, it would be almost impossible to be a size 8 yet measure 36 inches under the boobs.

Statistically I had it done in a department store. I will check myself tonight, well, they're 17, I'll get them to check. They are both quite big busted. Take after me, when I had a figure it was hour glass and they are the same.

I'd honestly put money on it being wrong. A size 8 has what, about a 26" waist on average? Given that it would be seriously unlikely to have a 36" underbust. I'm going to take a bet that the 36dd is more like a 28-30 and about a gg cup. The 36c is probably more like a ff. You'll be able to tell almost instantly by looking at the bands on their bras-if they are not horizontal the whole way round, they're wrong. I'm quite hourglass myself except with much bigger hips-I wear about a 12-14 and only need a 30.

Sadly there are some really awful bra fittings done in big shops.

This has got me fascinated. Dd1 was in M&S recently and was told by the woman her bra was wrong. Apparently she had the right size but wrong shape. The woman put her in a plunge bra rather than a balcony. The difference was immediate and she was far more comfortable. I shall report back after school!

TBH, I'm not surprised the plunge worked as that style works well on most young, firm breasts!
