Paraben free skincare: recommendations?

All, I've tried lots of different products over the years. But never really found anything that is brilliant for me. Any recommendations on skincare products for fair skin prone to rosacea/type redness and sometimes breakouts that have really worked for you?

At the moment I'm using Essential care cleanser and moisturiser but want to try something new. In past have dabbled with Akamuti, Dr Hauschka, Liz Earle, Environ (not pben free) but not stuck systematically with any of them.

I do all the no caffeine, no alcohol, limited sugar/choc stuff, taking essential fats. But still have quite a lot of problems which I would love to improve. I tend to use the absolute minimum on my face for fear of upsetting it. But then end up with dry skin. Sorry for the long post!

Why no parabens? Are you allergic? The more I'm reading, the more I'm disregarding the bad rap parabens are getting. I have rosacea and LOVE Kiehl's supremely gentle eye makeup remover (it has parabens) and can use it on whole face. Also, Trilogy very gentle cleanser (no parabens). I am very dry-skinned also and the best moisturiser for me is Jurlique moisture replenishing cream.

I love Logona organic wild rose cleanser and night cream. I have sensitive skin prone to dryness & they're brilliant at keeping my skin hydrated. I also use their wild rose make up remover oil All available online at Beauty Bazaar.

BB also has a good range of serums & oils if you are prone to dryness.

I also highly recommend Caudalie products if you haven't tried them.

Parabens are supposed to mimic the action of oestrogen, so personally I choose to avoid them.

Adding coconut oil to your diet can help. I use Liz Earle, despite the take over by Avon. It works for me, as does a little rose hip oil every now and again.

I also swear by Roberts rose water as a toner, it has no alcohol or other nasty things in. I first discovered it in Italy and tracked it down here.

Allergenics cream, amazing stuff for redness/rosacea/dryness. It's only a fiver but I'd happily pay 20 quid a tube for it it's so good.

I use mostly Origins skincare, all made without parabens. The Dr Weill for Origins are meant to counter redness - I don't have that problem so cn't vouch for its effect...

Twinklestein, many derms are apparently up in arms about the hate for parabens, as it's bringing lots of people in with allergies to other, more harmful preservatives.

Have a look at Pai skincare. Their products are natural & excellent quality. They also have the best, most explanatory ingredient lists I've seen. If you are interested, it's best to sign up to their website as they have very good offers.

Have a look at these online retailers plenty of natural paraben free and silicone free products here (and free of phenoxylethanol etc too)

Thanks all... Twinklestein, I'm trying the Logona products at the moment and do really like them.. Really soothing. I'm still getting quite a lot of redness... Not raised spots or sore just redness. I cover up with make up but is really annoying.. Please let me know if anyone has wisdom to shed.

I'm 14 was pg ;-) so the hormones probably don't help. But been struggling with this for a long time and wd love to get back my clear skin.

Suggestions gratefully received.

Weleda Calendula range - it's for babies but brilliant, I use it on me and eczema prone LO.

brightnearly · 27/01/2014 20:27

Avene also does skincare for rosacea-prone skin without parabens:

Avene

I used to love their Rich Compensating Cream, but am now using Annemarie Borlind's ZZ cream, which my skin practically drinks up!

MinginInTheRain · 27/01/2014 20:34
