Hello,

I really need your help! Hoping to have a job interview in the next few weeks for a job I would LOVE to get.

It's a job in education at a quite traditional school. High-up job (think Assistant-Head type).

I have lost 2 stone over the past year but am still a size 20. I have big boobs. Colour-wise, I love pinks, purples and jade greens. I think I am a 'Winter' in terms of colour. I have grey/blue eyes and dark brown hair.

Career and experience-wise I know I have what it takes to do the job. I need to convince them that appearance-wise I will fit the bill too.

I have been looking at the wide-leg trouser and City wool jacket from Boden, with a bright coloured scoop-neck blouse - what do you think?
Budget of up to £250 for something that would look amazing. Would need to be online shop as nearest major shopping centre is over an hour away.

Many thanks and over to you.....

Still here! (Though just got bumped off the site for ten minutes: guess the work on the site is still going on...)

Oh gawd, just looked through past threads and see that Interview outfit questions are a no no on here.

If anyone is still happy to help me out I would be very very grateful

Tia

Pleeeeeeeeease

Help me, any ideas for where I can get a nice suit or other ideas of what I could wear?

I think what you suggest is fine. For an interview or indeed if senior management job in posh school, all the time, jacket is what you need. Maybe darker shift dress with brighter boucle Chanel style jacket? I will look for some links

RosesOnTheWane · 24/11/2013 13:16

Thank you so much.
I have a couple of (old) Boden jersey dresses; rarely wear them to work now as they have become a bit bobbly.
Job is in another (middle eastern) country so not sure if dress better than trousers? Think either would probably be fine.

I LOVE interview questions, they are my favourite. An also a teacher.

Right, for a senior position, you will need a suit.

Do you prefer trousers or skirts?

RosesOnTheWane · 24/11/2013 13:18

Oooh x- posts.
Good to see you, Tethers. You're a celebrity in my book.
:)

Should add I have been here 5 years in various guises.

Only just re-registered after flouncing because of the Aarse thing.

I am hopeless at linking. How about the boden Brampton jacket, either in green with a plain navy dress, or the red colour way with burgundy or black dress. You don't say whether you're more of an apple or pear, but there's the Thea dress in plain navy (I think that higher necklines are sensible for interviews if busty), or Lana in black or tipped wool shift.

You might also have a look at hobbs for that budget I know they only go up to an 18 but they come up big. Currently 20 PC off. Wine coloured lola dress is lovely

Della tie side dress on phase eight wold probably go under either of those jackets.

Or same idea ... On jaeger website (again sizes are big) there is the rather lovely British tweed blazer currently half price at 150, nice black dress under that OR the incredibly smart navy grosgrain trim jacket which has a matching dress, you could conquer the world in that in any interview scenario but it is 50 quid over budget for the outfit.

RosesOnTheWane · 24/11/2013 13:37

Brill thank you I will go and have a look and be back to report .....

OP posts:
tethersend · 24/11/2013 13:53

Oh, you're too kind... Now watch me link to fifty things you hate Grin

Ok, how tall are you? Do you prefer skirts or trouser suits?

Second the hobbs and jaeger suggestions.

What's your usual style?

tethersend · 24/11/2013 14:05

Jaeger jacket and trousers

RosesOnTheWane · 24/11/2013 14:28

I'm 5 ft 5.

At home wear is black cords, vest tops or long sleeved GPS and cardies.
At work, black trousers, variety of (mostly m and s) blouses (viscose / jersey type) and black cardie or black jacket. Pearls or chunky necklaces in colours that go.
I feel like a frumpy lost cause having typed that!

RosesOnTheWane · 24/11/2013 14:32

I like the Brompton jacket in both colours, but prefer the green ( though I have never worn a coloured jacket in my life)!!
Not sure about the dresses , worried they will show off all my lumps, though no harm in giving it a try...

OP posts:
Brillenbar · 24/11/2013 14:39

I would certainly give the dresses a go you should be able to find a free delivery and returns code, so your only loss is funding mr boden for a week or so ....

I have seen all three of those dresses on 2 girls at work who are 18 to 22 size and they looked fab. The idea of the structured coloured jacket over a dark slim dress is that the colour draws eye up to your face and you look as slim as the gap between the lapels. Plus the green should look great on a winter

RosesOnTheWane · 24/11/2013 14:58

Brillenbar that sounds v. clever!

I am going to go ahead and order the 2 dresses and the green jacket, for a start off (maybe I should wait until I have an interview first.....)
grin

Sorry responses are so slow: I keep getting chucked off for some reason. Maybe the maintenance is still going on.

The Jaeger stuff looks lovely, but I am worried it would be an unforgiving fit. Might try Boden first as I know returns policy is easy.

Also, I have looked and there is a Jaeger in our nearest shopping town, so could visit sometime and have a try on.

tethersend · 24/11/2013 14:58

I don't like the Brompton, I think it's the double pockets...

How about burgundy? comes with a matching skirt

RosesOnTheWane · 24/11/2013 15:08

OK so have put a navy Thea dress into shopping basket, with green Brompton jacket (the beading looks navy to me... do you agree?)

What about shoes/ tights??

I only have black shoes like this

here
(I know, I know, there is no hope....)

OP posts:
RosesOnTheWane · 24/11/2013 15:10

I agree the pockets might be a bit fussy, and I like the style of the burgundy jacket but I fear that skirt would exhibit my enormous tummy.

Generally I do find dresses more forgiving. BUT can feel a bit self conscious in them so need to make sure I feel like a million dollars on the day!

OP posts:
tethersend · 24/11/2013 15:21

Ok, if it's dress and jacket, I'd do:

this with a green jacket or this jacket with a black dress.

I love this dress, and think it actually may be smart enough without a jacket...

RosesOnTheWane · 24/11/2013 15:27

Tethers, that gold jacket is V bling!!!

Might go into town and have a look.

It's a minefield! Making me want to smarten up at work generally.

An opportunity to refresh my tired wardrobe.

OP posts:
tethersend · 24/11/2013 15:33

Yeah, am in a bit of a blingy mood, sorry Grin

Also like this dress with this jacket, but will look for something more sober Wink

RosesOnTheWane · 24/11/2013 15:35

No, don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with a bit of bling!

(thinking of the discussion after the interviews ... I will forever be identified as the one in the bling jacket) Grin

OP posts:
tethersend · 24/11/2013 15:49

How about something like this suit?

RosesOnTheWane · 24/11/2013 16:26

Yikes Tethers.

No, that one definitely isn't me.

Imagine someone looking much like Jo Frost when she is smart.
