Long hair suggestions,please!

I have very long thick hair with long layers.

I definitely don't want to cut it but I could do with some suggestions.

Firstly,I am finding it's getting very tangled, particularly round the nape of the neck, and I often have a bit of a halo of slight frizz at the top - has anyone got any tips for dealing with this?

Secondly,I need inspiration for some easy everyday styles I can do without dragging it all severely off my face (which doesn't suit me)

Thank!

It sounds like your hair needs some TLC, do you use hair masques weekly? I've found that has made a big difference to my hair. I realise that you don't want your hair cut, but having a good style and cut is the basis of having easy to manage hair.

I also have the halo of frizz on top, should I try a masque? Can you recommend any? I'd be looking for mid price range.

Sorry for thread hijack OP!

One is long and thick. It is in. Good condition but I find wearing a scarf really tangles my hair up.
I also use loreal hair oil before I dry it.
Stops it getting frizz.

I used to have extremely long hair, I got it cut short when DD was born (suits me better). Anyway, for a cheap masque I used to use normal conditioner, with a couple of drops of essential oil (choose a nice smell, it's mostly for the smell, I like rose). I'd leave it on my hair for an hour or more, with one of those hair wrap/turban things on, to stop it getting on my clothes. Worked lovely & cheaper than expensive masques.

I use coconut oil and leave it in for half an hour.

mine gets knotted at the back when I wear scarves too I think its just the perils of long hair. Smile

Have a look at this blog for long hair up do's.

joannagoddard.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/hair%20tutorial?m=1

Or have a trawl through YouTube as loads of tutorials on there too.

Almond oil (dirt cheap in chemist) is grest for intensive treatment as is coconut oil (buy in jar cooking section or in asian grocers)

CareBearWithFangs · 24/11/2013 08:30

I rub a little bit of coconut oil between my fingers and stroke them through dry hair to get rid of halo of frizz. Use a small amount though! I also do weekly hair masques - currently using a loreal elvive restore 5 one. I tend to buy which ever ones on offer.

Hair style wise have a good search on you tube.

the small things blog and bye bye beehive have lots of hair tutorials. Perhaps you could pin it up but leave a shorter layer to frame your face. Im also a big fan of silk pillowcases for my hair (and skin) although my hair is only shoulder length.

HotCrossBunsForAll · 24/11/2013 09:47

Silicon free shampoo has transformed my hair - no more halo of frizz! I use the Loreal Eversleek & it's brilliant.

I have long thick hair with layers. I use the Aussie shampoo and conditioner. I occasionally use the Aussie conditioner which you leave on longer than ordinary conditioner. If I can be bothered I use henna conditioner and leave it on for an hour. Also when I can be bothered I use Moroccan oil after I have dried my hair.

Some excellent ideas.Thanks Smile

I do like to use stuff that's as natural as possible, and I use coconut oil at times (but probably not enough).
I have some almond oil - I'll have to try that.

I shall be having a good look at that link. Thanks Queen.

I'm thinking I might start sleeping with my hair in plaits,to reduce the sheer length of time it takes to brush my hair in the morning.
