I have acne scaring to my face and am booked up for my first dermaroller treatment next week. Has anyone had this treatment done and what were your results? Is it as painful as I think its going to be?

Ouch no! Is it really suitable for acne scars? it helps supposedly to rebuild collagen but I though it was more for sagging and ageing not scarring. I thought laser was the treatment for acne scars or even micro resurfacing. Are you going to a qualified cosmetic dr?

Yes, its a large UK cosmetic surgery company so there should be no problem with the advice. I have been to a couple of places and they have all told me much the same.

I think the skin creates collagen following the 'trauma' it receives. Tbh my fine lines will benefit if nothing else!

I've had it done but for ageing rather than scarring although I know it's recommended for scarring too.

It's not painful just a bit uncomfortable (you'll get a topical anaesthetic applied to your face) and the next day it feels like you've had a bit too much sun.. Nothing to worry about! Grin

My best mate did it for acne scarring and the results were amazing. I think she had it 3/4 times over a year. She is evangelical about it!

I'm glad to hear the success stories. I'm so used to hearing everything working for everyone else and not me. This time I will stay quietly confident!

Can you link some information? Is it cheaper than laser?
I would have concerns re infection, tho if they are a reputable company they must have gone thru that with you, and maybe it's not a big woryy.

I am on my awful phone and can't link sorry. I have decided to go through the Harley Medical Group and its £200 a session with the they to have three. I have taken a look on youtube and it looks quite vigorous.

I'm not sure about infection and haven't really given it much thought. I'm hoping they will give me some advice on that.

I'm also having nLite laser done elsewhere which apparently kills the bacteria which causes the acne and start that tomorrow. I think I will need three courses of that with possible top ups...at £175 a go it had better be worth it. Nothing ventured nothing gained I guess.

I've had a few Fraxel laser sessions for some scarring. It's v good but v expensive, iirc £400 to £500 a go and you need more than one, 4 to 8 seesions they say. My dermatologist wouldn't start any sessions until my grumbling acne was 'cured' (Roaccutane, fab stuff). Will ask her about dermaroller next visit. A lot cheaper.
