"Budget" Skincare Recommendations Please

I had been using Clarins for a few years but recently been looking for something a bit cheaper.

I tried Liz Earle for the last month and the cleanser is running out. I've not been so impressed as to buy it again.

Any recommendations for a "high street" range. Are the likes of Nivea, Olay, Simple, etc as good as the more expensive brands?

Think I tried the Olay Multi Radiance lotion in Boots today. It stank! Not bad smelling but very highly perfumed.

I need a moisturiser for a combination skin. I don't think I have ever found exactly the right one...

I really thought I was going to get on with The liz Earle, but I'm just not jumping for joy about it IYSWIM!

Have you tried anything from Lush ? Haven't tried their facial moisturisers, but other stuff's lovely.

You're a big Liz fan, aren't you Jackie?

Do you use the exfoliator? I'm finding that my pores are a bit clogged and have the odd blackhead. I wonder if I need to incorporate the exfoliator...

I do love Liz Earle stuff. Had a sample size of the exfoliator in with my last order, and tried it the other night - it did leave my skin lovely and smooth. Although I love the cleanser, I think my skin needs a bit of extra exfoliating, too.

nivea is hte best thing i have used on my dry skin, above any of the expensive brands

littlerach · 12/07/2006 18:55

Another vote for Botanics.

Their facial exfoliator is great, as is therir day moisturiser - not too greasy and sinks in.

L'oreal really rocks my boat too. Ilove theri stuff although the Boots Time delay is supposed to be great too.

i have used clarins and olay, nivea and dr hauska (which is nice) however my mum has always used nivea in the blue old fashioned tub (she uses vaseline to remove make-up) and her skin is fantastic (I'm not sure why i never followed suit) she is 67 and she does have wrinkles but her skin is as smooth as a babies bottom so to speak

another vote for Lush products. For combination skin try their Imperialis moisturiser - I used this when my skin was breaking out and it really was great. Not too oily but nice and moisturising. Quite cheap too. They also do great soaps - you need to go in and tell them your skin type, and they'll recommend the best things. Oh, and their 'Angels on Bare Skin' scrub is one of the best I've ever found. I always use it.

also love Nivea 'Soft' moisturiser - it comes either in tubes or bigger pots - cheap cheap cheap but so nice. You can use it everywhere too.

Have bought a big tub of Nivea soft for my "horned hooves" as Cod would say. Think my feet are worse if I'm not wearing socks.
