Go to your GP. We faffed around with mainstream products or far too long with no effect. The cream the GP prescribed made a difference within a week. Think it's called bio derm, with benoxyl peroxide (or however you spell it!). It does dry out the skin but DS uses Neutrogena moisturiser to keep the dryness at bay.

Good luck with it.

Agree with Aphra. We also wasted too much time and money on over the counter stuff. The prescription cream cleared it in a week.

Sorry, it's Epiduo cream, not bioderm.

Sudocrem worked overnight on my almost 12 year old DD. It's worth a try while you find the time to get to the doctors.

thankyou , i will make him an appointment and get some sudocrem in the meantime Smile

Can you get him to drink loads of water?

I had problem skin as a teen and also got cystitis. When I was drinking tonnes of water for the cystitis my skin cleared up loads.

It's worth a shot before or while you go down the medication route. He needs to drink enough for him to be pretty much constantly needing the loo though which I know is going to be hard with a teenage lad. Maybe see if he can try it over a weekend and see how his skin looks on Monday morning.

Then perhaps it might teach him to drink more during the normal day which will help with his skin.

i always say this but get him some extra pillowcases, after he's slept on it once, flip it, then the next night sleep on the other side (clean side) After that, stick it in the wash. i did this and it really helped my skin improve.

thanks , great ideas , will get him to try Smile
