Will this solve all my foundation woes?

Well it's a finishing powder really , not a foundation as such. I've been through a couple ( shade 10 is pretty universal ) and like it. I wouldn't rave about it though - hourglass powders are the absolute business however

ChablisLover · 16/11/2013 23:02

What's an hourglass powder? I've never heard of it.

Look on spaceNK. I've got the three in one compact and the radiance powder as well. They make your skin glow and look amazing . They're very spendy but worth it I think

I'd link you but can't on my phone

ChablisLover · 16/11/2013 23:36

Thanks

Will check them out.

Was in spacenk yesterday but just have missed these

Les beiges - glam on Giselle; crap on pasty faced British mortals.

ChablisLover · 17/11/2013 00:56

Ah - so not worth wasting £40 odd quid on as am below the pasty face on the skin scale.

Any recommendations for a fair skinned green eyed pasty complexion.

Bourjois is crap on me

The best so far is the ysl touché éclat foundation.

Am nearly tempted to try sheer cover. But lily LILO and bare minerals seem to add to the pastiness.
And bb/cc creams do nothing for me

All I want is the fabulous foundation that goes wow.
It's like the ultimate thing isn't it but fear after 25 odd years I'm destined to keep trying every foundation. It's like finding nice jeans.

What's Estée Lauder double wear like? It seems to get rave reviews.
Also seemed to get on with chanel (at times)

NARS go pretty pale and is my favourite. Don't know if you have tried it?

depends if you are dry or oily? Do you need coverage?

feelinlucky · 17/11/2013 05:04

Apparently I have porcelain skin :) that could have been code for washed out! I use illimasqua and have for years. I love it. Maybe go to a few counters and have a try?

ChablisLover · 17/11/2013 07:47

Thanks all.

I think the healthy mix is too dewy on me.

I'm 37 and I generally have combination skin but in winter can go quite dry around the nose and cheekbones. I am prone to dark circles under the eyes and redness on the cheeks but generally i have clear skin no major breakouts. Don't need major coverage just even out the skin tone. I don't like feeling like I'm wearing heavy makeup either so like it to feel light on my face hence looking at mineral powders.

Will try the counters and ask for samples.

If anyone can recommend a good moisturiser I would be grateful also

OP posts:
ChablisLover · 17/11/2013 07:48

Yes - use smash box primer
Foundation does seem to sit better with it.

SarahPercyAndBill · 17/11/2013 07:53

BareMinerals. Loose powder, works great on any skin type, use as little or as much as needed for your choice of coverage. Very good skin tone matching. Though I used them for over a decade now (shipping them from US originally) and I use to also buy a dark shade in summer then mix with my regular shade to match my tans.

Curioustiger · 17/11/2013 07:56

I think the best foundation I've ever tried is trash mcevoy... I forget the exact name but it's in a little glass bottle and last year it was a very spendy £45. I won't wear anything else now... It's dramatically improved the condition of my skin and when it's applied, it genuinely has a little glow to it. Also although it is very expensive a little goes a long way, I have made my bottle last for eight months with daily wear.

ChablisLover · 17/11/2013 09:20

Have heard of Trish mcevoy. The other one I had in mind was by terry.

Don't mind if it's spendy as long as it does the trick

Can you not get colour-matched for a foundation by Bobbi Brown's little elves? Or on the Laura Mercier counter in Space NK? Both of those go very pale. Laura Maercier have primers, too, for days/nights out when you want full-on perfect, and tinted moisturiser for days when you just want moisturiser with a hint of colour.

I don't know so much about powder, but I'm guessing that if you ask for a make-over, with powder for a base, in Space NK, they will find you something that doesn't send you out looking daft.

Allthingsprettyreturns · 17/11/2013 09:34

Estee lauder invisible liquid foundation

Eliza22 · 17/11/2013 10:02

Please, give the new L'oreal one a go. I'm NOT a fan of the brand, at all. In summer I'm a Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser person and I've tried numerous foundations for my autumn/winter deathly pale (fair hair & green eyes) skin. I tried this L'oreal as a sample and it's amazing. Stays ALL DAY, is light, makes pores disappear and it really looks like just....skin. I use the Porcelain 100 shade and can warm it up with blush which looks so much better than my Estée Lauder Double Wear Light cement on my +50 skin.

I have it in in this photo, but also quite a bit of Bronzer, after a late holiday.

Eliza is that the nude magique one?

OP posts:
ggirl · 17/11/2013 10:59

HAs anyone tried the new YSL foundation ?
ysl

Also the Armani fusion one is meant to be the dogs bolleaux according to India Knight, had a feel of it in store and it's extremely llight.

womma · 17/11/2013 13:39

I understand that L'Oreal Nude Magique is a great dupe for the Armani fusion one. L'Oreal owns the Armani make up brand, so it could be a v similar product

Eliza22 · 17/11/2013 13:52

Yes, the new one in a kind of rectangular, skinny bottle. No pump with it, is the only drawback but, I have had Armani Maestro (this is supposed to be a dupe) and THIS wears, day-long, much better. As I say, I don't usually "do" L'loreal but was temped by a Boots offer of £6.99 introductory price.

It's lovely. As I say, I'm quite dark in that pic as I'd been away.

cocobongo · 17/11/2013 13:54

try by terry at space nk. I'm currently using cover expert, although my favourite is eclat de rose, but that is very pricey and only gives a sheer coverage.

I second using smashbox primer- i use this one hydrating. Oh, and remember Boots are doing lots of their points evenings in the run up to christmas, so try and hold off spending until then if you are buying from Boots as you'll get £12 of points for every £50 spend.
