Whistles cashmere - bag o shite?

There's a Whistles cashmere jumper I've bought, but it's looking bobbly and I haven't even worn it yet!

Suspicious it might look like a bag o shite after a couple of washes. Thinking of taking it back.

Anyone else bought a current season cashmere jumper - how well has it worn?

No idea but got ribbed navy jumper from there and sort of camel/tan non cashmere jumper also whistles.

The 1st is fine 2nd has creased and stained easily in no time. Washed 2nd jumper and thankfully it's ok. But would not buy fine knitwear from there again.

Ps it should NOT look bobbly before you wear it no way!

I don't think it is good quality. I got the oversized cowl neck jumper last year, and it looks like a rag. I have other cashmere jumpers that are years older and look much better. It's not even particularly soft.

I wouldn't buy cashmere from Whistles again.

I don't think their knitwear is up to much. I bought a plain fine wool navy blue popperback sweater there last year - it was more than I would usually feel comfortable paying for a sweater, but I thought it would be an "investment piece" that I could wear for years. After a handful of wears it looked like the cheapest, nastiest acrylic school jumper, all bobbly and creased. I took it back and got a full refund. Wouldn't buy knitwear from Whistles again.

Oh might take mine back tomorrow ....

After I'd bought it I remembered a black cashmere cardigan I bought there a couple if years ago, and it looked like a rag after a few washes.

Shame cos this one is my 'perfect' jumper!

Damn OP sorry about that! I don't understand why they're compromising quality obv using poor materials or whatever!

Shite! I bought four pieces (two cashmere dresses, a beanie and waffle cashmere jumper) about a month and a half back when they were running a promotion, and have put them away to wear at Christmas! Cost me a sodding fortune....will be so upset if the items turn out to be crap! The cashmere felt nice on when I tried the clothes on in store! Grrr..
Ps I thought even the best cashmere bobbled on the first few wears and then settled down (I do have a White Company piling comb)

Well I've worn the elena dress all day today and not a bobble in site.......just sayin

I don't think even halfway decent cashmere should bobble all that much - I only have M&S and John Lewis cashmere (nothing very expensive) and none of those bobble particularly.

Why should it bobble?! I've got Brora and John
Smedly and they bobble after a while (but shave it off) but not when new!

I bought a Whistles jumper a few weeks ago, but have yet to wear it.
I have a few Pure Cashmere cardigans and jumpers that are great, can be machine washed and do not bobble, if that helps.

Very disappointed in the jumper I bought a couple of weeks ago, after a few wears it's looking very tired and despite careful washing the sleeves have shrunk slightly. Will not be buying anymore from them

Anyone bought carin cashmere waffle crew from whistles? Does it survive washes and wears?

I think it's sometimes true that cashmere bobbles at first then settles down, like Leo said - I had a jumper that did that - I was v angry with it but then it sorted itself out within a few wears. Also it often gets softer and fluffier with washing. Maybe new cashmere has lots of loose fibres that bobble together and eventually work their way loose?

Do you machine wash cashmere jumpers? My machine has a wool cycle but I'm worried my jumpers come out half the size.

What temperature do you wash at?

My machine has a cold hand wash setting and I use that for wool and cashmere. Used it loads of times with a gentle spin and no wear or shrinking. Some machines only go down to 30 deg though. I used to wash it all by hand but shrank a few things by using water that was too warm as I didn't want to freeze my hands!

I machine wash mine on a wool wash at 30. with Woolite.I then tumble dry for a few mins.( not more than 5) to remove creases and then hang up to dry.I have got a relatively new washing machine though( an LG Direct Drive).I have lots of cashmere and have never had any problem using this method.I have accidentally shrunk the odd thing in a standard wash though.

So I think I'm going to buy it online, and then if it goes shit I can send it back for not being up to standard without having to face anybody.

I got the Agatha cashmere jumper for £30 in the sale.
It's lovely and soft and seems nice quality.
I'm just about to wash it for the first time.

I put my cashmere on a wool wash with woolite or similar, then dry flat ish and I've not had problems yet.
