Do you "set" your foundation with powder?

I have trouble with the staying power of foundation, especially when I'm in the office all day, have been told previously to set it with powder, but have never been able to find a good powder to do so. Now I've read/heard a couple of times recently that setting makeup with powder is a bit passe? Is this true??? Apparently powder makes your skin look old (have experienced this!) and causes photography issues. Do I just keep looking for a (better) anti-shine primer instead? Very confused!

I have used coty powder for 40 years - there is nothing better. It is gentle and doesnt dry my skin. It smells nice, too.

If you have a foundation that suits your skin, you shouldn't really need powder (unless you have a particularly oily t-zone perhaps) - it's more for... well, a powdered look.

I like MAC Select Sheer loose but moved to Corn Silk loose because it's cheaper and also there was not a great deal of difference between them for me.

I prefer loose because I find it tends to disturb foundation less.

You can also try a primer, but I've never bothered.

Thank you for the link on the press and roll method - I will definitely try it!

I seem to have dry skin that gets shiny. Does that make sense? In photos I often look shiny & makeup will slip off me by afternoon but if I put on powder, I hate that it ages me and also washes me out in photos. Powder foundation is awful on me, I can only wear liquid. MAC foundations and powders break me out - I avoid at all cost.

So ... I'm going to try the NARS one and Chanel! And the press and roll method! And not applying on cheeks & under eyes!!
