...and I can heartily recommend. I've got thick, coarse, wavy hair and it's great. If you buy one, make sure you put the bristle guard thingy back on after use as you can bend the bristles quite easily.
Thank you Mumsnet.

I thought I'd bump my own thread because I am quite evangelical about this appliance.

What is it?

Curioustiger · 25/11/2013 20:39

Does your hair tangle easily? Mine does so I am a bit scared of the BBH. I love a bit of root lift though so ...

bishboschone · 25/11/2013 20:42

I just googled it .. I have curly hair so no good for me..Hmm

HotCrossBunsForAll · 25/11/2013 20:58

It was on sale in asda today for £20. I have super fine, shoulder blade length layered hair...I don't know if it's a good investment or not!

fluffiphlox · 25/11/2013 21:12

It is a hair dryer with spinning brush on the end. Gives me quite a blow-dried look. I have really problematic thick hair. Coarse, wavy, curly underneath at the back. I rough dry my hair with an ordinary dryer then finish with the Big Hair. It's the one with the smaller barrel.

On sale for £20 you say?

fluffiphlox · 26/11/2013 14:38

That sounds a bargain. I think I paid £40 plus for mine.

Just a word of advice to hold on to you receipt. Mine has just broken after 15 months, but it has a 3 year guarantee so I'll hopefully get a replacement.
I've had a look on the internet and it seems a fair few people have had the same problem with the motor burning out.

fluffiphlox · 26/11/2013 15:08

Good tip corlan thanks.

Corlan, my 2.5 year old BBH died a couple of weeks ago, and I didn't have the receipt (it was a gift) but Babyliss replaced with no quibbles. It arrived this morning, thank god!

corlan · 27/11/2013 08:17

That's good news LoodleDodle - thanks.

JapaneseMargaret · 27/11/2013 08:47

I am on my second one after the motor burnt out. Crap that it happened, but I had to replace it instantly, because I can't live without this device.

I also have thick, coarse hair.

So is the 42mm better?

fluffiphlox · 27/11/2013 09:54

The 42 mm is better for me as I would say I have mid-length not long hair.

Agree with Corlan re keeping the receipt - I have just returned mine this morning... I am now on my 6th BBH in two years! Shock. Luckily I bought it from Amazon and they have replaced and refunded the postage each time with no quibbles. I use mine frequently, about 5 times a week, but my hair is only shoulder length and I dry it mostly with the hair dryer before using BBH, so it's not as if I use it that much. Every time it has made a burning smell and cut out. Looking at their Facebook page, others have had similar problems so they are obviously aware of it. Like JapaneseMargaret, I can't live without it, so I just keep replacing it...fortunately at no cost to me.

NewName123 · 27/11/2013 16:58

I love mine. £20 is a bargain!!

LakeFlyPie · 29/12/2013 00:15

I've got fairly short (chin length) curly hair which I usually leave to dry naturally or scrunch dry i.e. non/minimal effort required.
Could the BBH offer an occasional more groomed option or will I just frizz up and/or find it far too much effort?

Elsiequadrille · 29/12/2013 00:26

I've had two break (of the larger barrel variety as have long hair), the barrel stopped spinning in both cases. It is wonderful though and am wondering whether to risk another.

SecretLimonadeDrinker · 29/12/2013 23:49

I have long fine hair (almost bra strap length) do I need the 50 mm, and do Asda still have them on offer?

AsBrightAsAJewel · 30/12/2013 00:27

I've been watching everyone raving about it and been tempted. But I have a question for experienced users; will it be OK for a jaw length layered bob of very fine hair? I've looked in Boots and the barrel looks very large, even the smaller diameter, and I'm worried I wouldn't have enough hair to actually wrap around the brush.

phoolani · 30/12/2013 00:33

I have jaw length very fine hair and I wouldn't be without mine. You'll have enough hair.

hanette · 30/12/2013 09:10

I also have jaw length hair - have just reserved one from Argos after reading these threads!

10outof10 · 30/12/2013 10:21

Look what you've made me do! Ordered one from Amazon.
Damn you S&B!

ashamedoverthinker · 30/12/2013 11:48

I have just looked at this..i feel very out of touch. I never knew there wa so many new devices beyond tongs and straighteners.

MadameLeBean · 30/12/2013 19:29

I have very thick hair just past shoulder length - do I get the 42mm or the 50? Is that measurement just the barrel or bristles included?
