Long-limbed ladies I need help - a really warm coat that will fit my arms

I need a decent winter coat. I'm 5'10", 12 on top and 14ish bottom with gangly gibbon arms.

I walk a lot and have Raynaud's so need to be really toasty. I keep reading about Merrills and Driksons but, as usual, I'm confused. Can anyone enlighten me please?
What are the arm lengths like?

All help gratefully received :)

Didriksons have long arms. I'm 5'9 and nor face coats arms are too short. If anything the Didriksons arms are a bit long on me!

ViviDeBeauvoir · 12/11/2013 18:24

*north face, obviously

Financeprincess · 12/11/2013 18:28

I have this problem too. Thank heaven for arm warmers!

romina · 12/11/2013 18:29

Lands end's Tall range - super warm and great colours!

Passthecake30 · 12/11/2013 19:57

Didriksons are very long in the arm, I'm 6ft and they are slightly too long on me
I have this, but tbh I would prefer it to be a bit thicker-

I have monkey arms and Helly Hansen fit well.

I'm 6ft and Marfanoid (loooooooooong arms). I got a long, military-style (think Benedict in Sherlock) coat from Hobbs last year and a) it's so long I trip on it sometimes and b) the sleeves go right to the end of my arms. So they might have something.

feetheart · 12/11/2013 23:15

Thanks for all the suggestions so far, you just threw the Barbie house in to confuse me further didn't you? :)

I think I really need a sensible parka-type coat this time although the Sherlock coat sounds brilliant.

So which Didrikson do I need and is there anywhere on the high street to try them on or do I have to order first?
Or are there any more good suggestions out there?

I am 5'10 and have gibbon arms and the Merrell coats are the first in my life which have long enough sleeves. I was so impressed I bought 2..... a warm one for winter and uninsulated for wet summers

feetheart · 12/11/2013 23:21

Please tell me more about the Merrill coats - which one is the warm one you got? And what is the sizing like?
I get the impression from reading on here that they come up quite small so I might need a Large (which would annoy me a bit as I'm usually a Medium and can be vain :))

Try ringing the helpline at Viking kids, the lady was so useful, I told her my size and what I needed and she made recommendations. If you are a 12-14 I'd go for a 12, mine has a little extra room in it.

I have the Mary, but sometimes feel a bit chilly, I feel the cold a lot too.

carrielou2007 · 13/11/2013 06:49

I have the Wakefield and insulated version both lovely long sleeves lovely coats

Snowbility · 13/11/2013 07:11

I have long arms and found the North Face arctic parka to be fine - it's worth trying on at your local Cotwolds because it's a brilliant coat.

helterskelter99 · 13/11/2013 07:14

I have a north face puffa that is long enough

rubybleu · 16/11/2013 17:14

I also found the North Face Arctic Parka to be really short in the arms which was really disappointing.

I did however buy a Canada Goose Trillium parka and it's fab - the sleeve cuffs reach all the way to my finger nails. I've never had a jacket with arms this long! It does unfortunately come with a real fur trim although I've zipped mine off.
