Am probably looking for the impossible.

Am after a really nice face cream, but not too dear. Used to use Clinique super defence but at £38 I was a bit Shock at that price recently.

I've tried L'Occitane Angelica (full size), their divine cream, immortelle etc but nothing's wowed me.

Quite like Bobbi brown hydrating gel cream.

Am thinking of Emma Hardie or Balance Me.

I don't mind using a cream sans SPF as I'd use nuxe spf30 on top.

Just think some of the creams are shocking for what they are. Find Neals Yard ok but a bit greasy plus neighbours who're big in aromatherapy and worked for them don't rate their products.

Oops also tried la Roche posay and Soap and Glory spf25 but nope not mad keen.

Have also tried Nivea etc and they're ok just would be prepared to pay slightly more!

Ps got good skin normal to dry, 42 but hardly any lines (laughter I think) need brightening if anything thought about AHAs but what?!

Like you I've tried a few, nice but not wow have been elemis pro collagen cream, decleor Hydrafloral, decleor night balms (the neroli one is wow but can't be used every night).

My favourite moisturiser is Alpha H rejuvenating cream. It has 10% Glycolic acid (AHA).
I haven't used it but have seen Bravura AHA night cream recommended on here and it about £12 ish I think. I'm going to give it a go when I've used my Alpha H up.

You could try liquid gold which you use 2/3 nights a week instead of moisturiser. It's a leave on exfoliant and helps your other creams work better.

I went from Decleor (too expensive) to Liz Earle Avon (skank)
Tried the superdrug radiance one which goes with their hot cloth cleanser (too light)

Am now using boots botanics radiant youth (am neither youthful or radiant) and finding it really good, smells lovely too. Use the serum at night from the same range

My fave is a Clarins rejuvenating serum it makes my skin so soft and glowy I only put it on once a day and you can wear it alone or under another moisturiser. Lovely.

OP, I recommend Steamcream. It's £13 a tin but often ASOS has them on offer. The name is a bit confusing, it sounds like a hot cloth cleanser, but steam is just used in the making. It's a rich, thick cream that settles into the skin instantly. It has a herbal scent (quite lavendar-y) and is definitely a go-to moisturizer for me. It's the first that makes me slightly dry skin smooth and plump straight away. It's thick enough to have a priming quality under foundation too.

Hi Josh, you need to get in touch with mumsnet hq for this sort of request.

lifesgreatquestions · 12/11/2013 12:53

What could possibly have been said on a thread about face creams that would have broken guidelines?

Anyway, Khiels about £30/40 depending on which one you go for. I have terribly dry skin and this relives it instantly.

ArtDecoGirly · 12/11/2013 13:57

Mumsnet HQ to ask about a face moisturiser? Wow, talk about getting too strict! Shock

Watching with interest. Assuming face cream isn't taboo...

SpookyRestingFace · 12/11/2013 14:00

Probably spamming, life. I saw the same user get a post deleted on another thread here today.

I like Steamcream too.

Currently using samples of Philosophy Hope in a Jar and Ren something-or-other and they are both really nice.

I moved from that Clinique cream to the M&S Formula Age Repair (for 40 year old skin) day cream w SPF (£9.50). It was just meant to be an experiment, but I've stayed w the M&S.

I use the newly launched hardcore retinol stuff from La Roche Posay, but it's more of a treatment than a moisturiser. "Redermic R", I like it so far.

I don't really use moisturiser/day cream in the day as I'm oily/normal and so my SPF is enough (Clinique City Block 25). My night time choice varies but I like the Origins Drink Up Intensive, it calls itself an overnight mask, but is really just a thick moisturiser that gives skin a good dose of hydration overnight. I do have the Origins Night-A-Mins too which is a resurfacing thing (similar to the Alpha cream) but I can't use it every night and don't like it as much as the Drink Up Intensive combined with the LRP vit A product underneath.

I also like the Avene rich moisturiser. It's very basic and plain and a little goes a long way, but I find it great for "dry days" and when my skin is especially reactive. Cheap too.

After all this I went to Debenhams after work not only was 10% off but also there were xmas sets I got a Clarins hydra quench moisturiser with a mask and serum saving a bit.

So will print out thread and return when I've used the clarins.

One thing I will say what a load of carp the Clinique girl spewed re their paintstripper toner.
