Bras, Glorious Bras, where am I going wrong?

I just can't seem to get them to fit. I was measured at M&S about a year ago - 1 yr after having DS. My size/shape has changed again.

I measure a 36inch in the band area, so I believe that I am supposed to add 4 = 40 inch band. Then I measure fullest cup area = 41.

So is that a 40A or 40B?

I was in a 40C but I thought it looked like boobs were spilling over the top, so went up a cup. I asked if I could get measured in Debenhams and I was told the woman who did it was somewhere and wouldn't be back for ages so I didn't hang around (no pun intended).

Where is the best place to get a proper measure and fit? I feel as if bad bra fits are contributing to indigestion.

No no no no no. You are not a 40. Try a 36 DD or E (I think - someone more knowledgeable will be along in a minute to sort you out). Your bra is not big enough in the cup and too big round the back. A new bra that fits properly and lifts them up where they belong will give you a new lease of life.

Nooooo! 36D/DD though try a band down. Do a search on this thread re bras to get the full scoop Wink

I would put up a new thread titled Bra Gurus I need your help, it sounds the klaxon!

Oh my word! 36f.

Crikey. Im going to have to bra shop ladies.

Has this been what's been causing indigestion and boob pain at the sides all this time? Hope so. I spend most of my nights now without a bra on but I definitely need them supporting before they escape into my arm pits!

Ok, the adding 4" thing is is out of date but sadly places like M&S insist in adhering to it because it keeps their costs down as because they're shit.

Try a 36DD/E and also a 34E/F.

Read the blog here for guidance on getting the band right first before sorting the cups.

Just noticed that you're spilling out in a 40C. You'll deforest needs to try at least a 36E and a 34 (a 36DD and a 34E have the same cup volume as a 40C)

Is this a new bra intervention thread? Please can someone do me, I have lost weight (yay!) and my bras are too loose (boo!) I'm 29" under bust and 40" at the fullest part; is that a 28H? I'm currently wearing a 30GG so they're not too bad, just not getting quite enough support currently.

SorrelForbes · 12/11/2013 09:29

Come on in Grin

I'd suggest trying a 28H/HH and possibly a 30H. I measure 29.5" under bust and need a 30 in most brands but could squeeze into a 28 in a few so I suspect that the 28 will be the best fit for you.

What type of shape/style do you like? Are you quite wide set, bottom/top heavy etc.?

Congratulations on your weight loss btw.

kaumana · 12/11/2013 10:04

Stunt Try on balconette rather than plunge bras to see if that helps as well.

StuntNun · 12/11/2013 10:10

Thanks, I'm still breastfeeding my one-year-old so I have limited choice of styles at the mo. I have lost eight pounds on BIWI's low carb Bootcamp so a self-congratulatory purchase of new bras may be in order. Grin
