If you like to be "on trend" can you explain to me please?

I understand wanting to look good, i understand enjoying clothes, appreciating good design and wanting new things.

I don't understand,at all, why you would wear something this year that you didn't like last year (or vice versa)simply because "someone" says it's fashionable.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just that i don't get it

I get bored wearing the same styles - I look forward to new shape, styles colours etc. I'm the same with travel and food - I'm always seeking out the new and interesting. I wouldn't describe myself as exactly on trend too much pressure to keep up! Wink

i wouldn't say I am or have ever been 'on trend' but I like to try different things. Sometimes it takes me while to figure out how to wear something as, very often, the way new fashions are shown and described just won't suit my figure. I like to ponder a while and try out different combos until i find a way to make it mine if that makes any sense?

I get One but once you've found your way to wear it and decided that it suits you would you then stop wearing it just because the trend is over?

I never stop wearing what i like. it's wasteful to just buy and then dispose of clothes for just one 'season' if it suits me now, it will still suit me in spring. I get that perhaps people in the public eye are under more pressure to always be seen as 'on trend' but for us mere mortals, I don't think it really matters if you're caught wearing 'last seasons jacket' Grin

That's how i feel which is why i don't understand trends...

Atari are you still wearing the same styles you bought 20 years ago?

MarshaBrady · 11/11/2013 17:50

I just buy new stuff each season, and then it naturally is in. I also think new colours and shapes can be refreshing as time moves on.

But I don't not wear stuff if they are still ok, I'm not hugely bothered by being on trend with fashion, but I do think that's nice, that's new.

almost everyone wears fashion.

Some people just wear fashion from 10, 20 or 30 years ago. Some people only wear jeans and fleeces, but even jeans ail eb be cut in a shape that was, once, fashionable (i.e. bootcut)

Nobody has to be on trend, I am often not.

But sticking to the trends of your youth….is ageing your look, you look dated.

Or, maybe you look "classic", that is a possibility too (some times do not "date" you, but are classics, like a camel coat, a beige belted mac, knee high fitted boots etc.)

I like to find a new trend that suits me, e.g. skinnies and ankle boots show off my long legs, so I like that trend. Peplum is a trend I gave a great berth!

I don't have the time or money to really refresh my clothes every season, but I do my best to buy a couple of new items to keep my outfits modern(ish).

I suppose new clothes stop me feeling stale and stuck in a rut. I can still wear clothes I bought 15yrs ago, I never bin a thing.
