Flyaway short hairs and tangled hair help please

DS aged 5 has noticed that my hair is always messy Blush

I have lots of strands which are shorter than the rest (they just seem to grow like that!) especially around the hairline. My hair also breaks easily when brushing which probably contributes to the short hairs problem.

Even when I brush it, it seems to stick together and tangle again instead of being nice and swishy. I've started using coconut oil (aiming to do once a week) and have tried Mythic oil with no great improvement. Elasticizer made no difference. I have a BBH which doesn't help much either.

Can anyone recommend a fix for me? don't mind spending a bit if it works.

I have a similar problem with my hair tangling up so before I brush, I squirt in some leave in conditioner. Means the brush goes through more easily with less breakage. I'm using Aussie stuff at the minute and it's pretty good, detangles and softens but doesn't leave my hair greasy

Same problem here. I went to a new hairdresser a few weeks ago and he used something I'd never heard of called Uniq1. It's by Revlon but I've never seen or heard of it before. Anyhow it was bloody amazing and I bought a bottle before leaving the salon.

It's a hair treatment. You wash and condition your hair as normal and then spray this onto damp hair and hey presto - incredible de-tangling powers, no flyaways, hair feels silky and soft and smooth. It claims to have 10 benefits including adding body and protecting against heat etc. Not sure it does all those but it certainly is the best stuff I've ever used. And I've tried lots all with disappointing results. I recommended it to my DD's MIL and she was v v impressed and is recommending it to her DD.

You can get it from Amazon uk and ebay for between £8 - £13. You only need a little too as it's got an oily texture. I have a collar-bone length bob and just spray it about 3/4 times into my hands and smooth it through my hair. I loved Aussie stuff but was allergic to it. That was the second best stuff I've tried before I had to stop using it.

I've had all these problems over the years. Mine was mainly caused by anaemia which made my hair brittle and fall out. The wispy bits are the regrowth. I take high doses of iron and it is now improving, in fact, I have hair growing where I haven't had any since I was a teen. This has taken a few months though so you must be patient.
I am also taking Silica supps from Holland and Barret for my hair, skin and nails.

I have the short hair on my hairline too and hate it! its about an inch long and sticks straight up in the air when I wear my hair up so looks awful, whats worse is its only on one side Hmm

I use the aussie smoothing serum which is good, I tend to get v knotty hair when I wear it in a high bun overnight (which is really bad for your hair, dont do it!) wear it down or in a loose low pony.

My iron came back on low side of normal. Not enough for the GP to prescribe iron so I've taken matters into my own hands and bought some ferrous fumerate tablets. I'm going to give them 3 months and see if it makes any difference to my hair. I'm also taking brewers yeast tablets which were recommended on MN. Adding more protein to my diet and generally trying to eat better too. My hair is so brittle it just breaks off when I run my hands through it and each hair is so fine and thin it doesn't even feel like hair :(

I've had it cut from shoulder length to a collar bone length A line bob and stopped wearing it up (which I was doing all the time) in the hope that this also helps a bit.

Silver do report back on how you get on with the Uniq1. It's really helping mine with the knotting, flyaways and coarseness and I hope it does the same for you.
