Fading permanent home coloured hair

Hi,

I regularly colour my hair at home. It is dark brown. Have noticed the ends can sometimes look overcoloured. Is there anything (a shampoo maybe) that will help fade my existing colour before I redye it?

No advice I'm afraid but shamelessly place marking as I have the same problem!

I heard that vosene shampoo can help strip colour.

I also dye my hair at home. But I pour out the contents of the two bottles and mix them in a glass bowl with a tinting brush. Then apply the colour to the roots with the brush, leave for 15 mins then slap it on the rest of the hair and don't leave as long.

Vosene, baby shampoo, washing up liquid and even washing up powder. (Yes you did read that last one correctly - though it will sting like hell if you have any wee cuts on your fingers.)

I had red hair and washed it in a combination of Fairy Liquid and washing up powder about 4 times before using Colour B4 to strip it and go back to blonde.

I have this issue too so I use colourB4 every 6/9 months. Makes my hair orange, but when I redye it the colour is even again.

Look for a clarifying shampoo, that'll help fade the colour.

head and shoulders strips colour.

Vitamin C effervescent tablets, crushed up & mixed with with a clarifying shampoo (plenty of 'how to' vids on you tube) act like a colour remover. Once mixed, it's like a froffy mess, slap it on wet hair, cover in cling film for about an hour, wash & condition & you it should have removed most of the colour in your hair! Fresh for you to recolour - probably best to do the following day.

Thanks for your replies!

Don't have any Vosene, Head and Shoulders or vit c tablets in so I'll pick some up with my shop today. I'm sure a hairdresser told me years ago that Fairy was good for something on your hair, maybe as a clarifying shampoo?! (Long before clarifying shampoos could be bought!)

Have seen that colour strip thing, it scares me a bit! Does it not make your hair really dry?
