CakeL · 07/11/2013 22:15

Argh the past year my jowls have started to droop!! It's obvious to me, the aging process has begun compared to this time last year I look older & it's the jowls! I'm 42! I am tempted to go under the knife if there is such a procedure but dh fiercely against anything cosmetic so is there anything I can do? Googled facial exercises so have been slapping away tonight but will it work?? I have a bmi of 20-21 so not a weight thing! Any help appreciated during this sensitive tone! Thanks

Maybe get a little discreet filler?

Cheek filler - I know it sounds scary. This is not pillow face, it just replaces the volume which has slid south creating jowls. It will hoik you back in place like a good wooden coathanger vs a saggy, knackered old wire one.
I had it done ( well a liquid lift so Botox as well) about 14 months ago. Cheek filler lasts ages. It goes directly onto your cheekbone area not that fat part of your cheek. Will sort tear troughs out and naso-labial folds too.

This has helped a bit. When I can be bothered to do it.

Try this

www.flexawaysystem.com/

These show the same gadget but the new version (pink) is a firmer plastic and will prob take a bit longer to get the hang of.
I use it for a count of a 100 in the shower most days (if I remember) and my DCs say I look good for my age. Not sure about that but my chin and cheeks are much firmer, and, imo the exercise increases the circulation to the face and skin looks better too.

Am not a sales person, there are other similar exercisers available online and they are possibly as good but I haven't tried them.

Here are some that were linked to on a previous thread.....

Sorry, the youtube link is a bit tedious.

I share your pain. I hate my jowls - I would much rather have a face full of wrinkles. I'm not into injections or surgery so can't help you there but I do find a bit of deception and trickery goes a long way.

So firstly, always wear something that will draw the eye away from your jawline. Glasses are absolutely brilliant for this. They also distract from wrinkles and spots (Yes, I get them too).

Secondly, I avoid wearing anything that starts or finishes at my jawline. So my hair is short (Ok it was anyway). I've also given up on earrings and never, ever wear polo or turtle necks. I'm also trying to wean myself off scarves which is a real bummer as I have loads but I may as well wear a sign around my neck saying 'Look at these!'

The other thing is: When I moan about my jowls to my friends they look really surprised and I'm pretty sure they're not lying. I bet you notice them far more than anyone else does.

facercise baby! Can't recommend it highly enough.

Jacksterbear · 08/11/2013 10:30

I have heard amazing things about Eva Fraser's facial exercises.

isitsnowingyet · 08/11/2013 10:32

My way of not noticing is by not looking in mirrors. Maybe not a long term solution, but hey - it works!

Viviennemary · 08/11/2013 10:39

I have been tempted by botox a few times. But somebody said why would you inject poison into your system. But I still think about it sometimes. Probably too late now. Grin

MillyRules · 08/11/2013 11:02

face exercise definitely. Facelifts tighten the face muscles but you can exercise those same muscles to get the same results.

CakeL · 08/11/2013 11:53

Thanks so much for your replies and suggestions, lots to research, I'm a bit scared about fillers tbh but the results (no complications) does look tempting! for the short term I'm going to avoid mirrors, thanks isitsnowingyet and try the facial exercises!! think I would prefer wrinkles to this! sigh... thanks again all..

Have a look on the Rosemary Conley's website. They sell something called Facial Flex Ultra which is a little gadget that you put inside your mouth and is supposed to tone up your jaw line, chin, mouth and neck. Might be worth a try?
